I can't decide I wanted peoples opinions. The bipod will be mounted on an anschutz rail on my .308

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

I started with a Harris and switched to the Atlas. I found that the Atlas was easier to load although the Harris just takes a little more practice. Either one will get the job done.

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

I have them both and like them both my preference is for the Atlas. On my recent 2 purchases of the Atlas I really like the improvements they made to the mounting system. I use them all with the spigot type mount so they are very easy to switch on the AI stock. I suspect if you were going hunting and needed a pod that would extenr 18 to 30 some inches the Harris would be the way to go.

Harris 6-9 notched (ya, I changed my mind off the friction lock...). Simple and to-the-point. I'm a 'simple is better' type of guy and Harris is pretty simple and it works just like its supposed to. Plus its a bit less expensive than the Atlas.

Nothing against the Atlas. I know Casey put a ton of work into it. Ive played with one and its certainly well made.

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

For speed, I like the Harris 6-9, notched, with a KMW Pod Loc. I have two atlas bipods, and they are very well made, but I prefer my Harris for competition shooting strictly for the speed.

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

+1 on SniperCJ´s "simple is better" with the omnipresent Harris.

Over time I´ve gathered several bipods - long, short, canting... and a set of Phoenix tac. PodClaws that I can swap between them. Great versatility, easy repair or replacement. Had a chance of trying an Atlas on a friend´s rifle - it´s nicely built and everything, but for me the price is not justified (they get even more expensive being imported to the EU, so go figure).

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

By speed do you mean speed of deployment or speed of leg extending ie dropping the legs down in length ... And either way how does each one drop the legs down is on spring loaded or both and what type of mechanism holds the legs in place once extended... I don't have any locally to look at of either brand is why I have so many questions

I like harris!

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

I have a harris and it works well for everything I have for it.

times 2...

I used to try and use the search at the top...didnt realize till later that the google search on the right side of the page was there. Its way better than the upper search function is.

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

On my A5 stock I prefer the Atlas, the slight tapper and the ability of the Atlas to break over center make it a perfect union, on my Rock Solid I prefer the Harris, if your just starting out get a Harris, add a Pod-Lok and rock on, later if you want a Atlas I did a how too in the Gunsmithing Section.

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

harris 6-9 pod lock notched, easy to use while in prone or benched, and it's hard to "Accidently" kick the legs up.

Re: Atlas or Harris bipods... And why

I like to load and the Atlas wins in that category. The bonus is that it looks clean and cool.
