You can find them you just have to be willing to pay the high prices. Gun Broker has now become the "oh I wish I bought before this" site and there are lowers on there for interesting prices. Go to Gun Broker and type in AR lower into the search function and you will see all kinds of lowers for sale.

There are lowers for sale out the @$$ all over the place...but as you astutely observed...many "retailers" are out of stock and have no reasonable idea when they'll be back in stock (if ever)!! Get on the PX here on the Hide, BARFCOM EE, GunBroker, etc. You can't blink without running into a lower for sale...just be prepared for the price tags when you find one you want.

GunBroker: Be prepared to pay $475-$550 for a brand name lower. I have seen some "second tier" lowers go for around $300 over the last 36 hours. All this could change with the next news story.

There are no "secret" websites. Just go on the above websites and buy a lower if you want one. I've been watching them for quite some while and the prices are what they are. If you don't want to pay the price, just wait it out.
Personally I think its highly unlikely that they are going to completely outlaw AR-15's. Another AW ban, maybe but that isn't going to restrict stripped lowers. Buy a couple lower parts kits and your good to go. Lets first pass a budget and get over this whole fiscal cliff bullshit then we will talk about the gun laws. But at the rate congress is working, they might ban AW's by the end of 2013.

I sold a Rock River LAR-8A4 and a DPMS 308 upper on Gunbroker. I set the opening bid reasonable and they sold for enough to pay off my DTA that is on order. God love people that procrastinate and have money.
I would wait it out or find somewhere that will let you back order one for a reasonable price. If you gotta have it now pay the price.

Some of us couldn't stock up before the madness because of Christmas and are just just now getting enough extra cash to try and buy some stuff.

I just bit the bullet and bought a stripped YHM lower off of gun broker. The price was stupid high, but I don't care. I would rather pay the price than be stuck with 1.5 AR's sitting in my safe if the AW ban goes through. I didn't want to be stuck with just 1 lower and 2 uppers. Its just playing the odds and I was willing to pay to play.
Edit note: I am also being stupid and wanting a YHM lower. I could have found other brands cheaper but I "just had to have" a yhm lower.
