Figured id ask here first. Im looking at doing an executive carry pistol. And it is gonna be done in a case color frame. has anyone here done one? what to look out for? what charcol/ pits to use. I will try out one on a extra junk frame but had to see as im new to the case coloring. I have the brownells case color kit/ oven. And so far have only done small parts for custom rifles. Used bone charcol and peach pits on a 98 action that looked good, but hate to ruin a good frame !

Any help from a few who know would be great.

Thanks

Re: case color 1911 frame questions

There's an alternative to the traditional case color. The part distortion problems have been largely solved with the use of a cyanide based salt bath. Much lower temperatures this way.

Good luck.
