I have a question for you guys. I purchased two rifles from an online source for a ridiculously low price last night.Today they sent me an email saying they canceled the transaction because of the mistake on the price and they are going to refund my CC. Should I call and fight this or should I just let it go because of the obvious mistake I was trying to capitalize on?

Re: online purchase

I'd say if theyre reputable theyd stick to the price posted.

I wouldnt hesitate to call and give them a little grief.
My 2c though.

Re: online purchase

If they stand behind their name they should sale them for the price you purchased them. I would called them and let them know.

Re: online purchase

I "bought" a welder a couple of years ago at more than 50% off from Grainger. I wasn't sure if it was the real deal or not because it was a welder that Miller discontinued, so I was just hoping it was a sweet deal. After a few days they finally addressed it as a mistake. I was kind of ticked at the time, but I quickly learned that you don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to internet price changing. I forget the specifics, but long story short they can pretty much change their prices to their heart's content. They did offer a nice discount for the error, but it was only the ~15% discount that was suppose to be implemented in the first place.

If you didn't know it was a mistake and you felt that you'd been screwed I'd say call them up and see if they offer a discount or other consolation. Since you knew it was an error, there is really no reason for any recourse. People make mistakes (especially on computers). Do you want to be penalized financially for your day-to-day screw-ups? I sure as hell don't...

Re: online purchase

More than likely they have in their policy statement that says something like Buds:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">ONLINE PRICE & DESCRIPTION ERRORS

Our online inventory changes every day. Occasionally an item may appear on the site by mistake or the item's description may contain a typographical error. We do not guarantee that titles, descriptions or pictures on our site are error-free. We reserve the right to refuse any order including but not limited to orders for items with errors in the description or price. In the event that we cancel an order we will not charge the customer's credit card or we will return the money.

If an item's description contains an error such as incorrect price and a customer orders one, we will not process the order without first contacting the customer. If the order is mistakenly shipped, we may advise the customer to return the item in an unopened condition and we will not bill the customer. By placing an order, the customer agrees that BudsGunShop.Com will be the final arbiter of discrepancies in the online catalog.

Or from Impact Guns:

Items in your shopping cart will reflect the most recent price displayed on the item's product detail page. Prices are frequently updated to adjust for different sales, limited pricing, and other discounting. Therefore, prices on the product detail page and in your cart may change after such updates to reflect the current prices. Placing items in your cart does not reserve the current prices shown at that time, and prices are reserved only by placing an order. From time to time, despite our efforts, a small number of the items on our website may be mispriced. Please note that such errors or inaccuracies may be related to product descriptions, pricing and availability. In the event of a pricing error, Impact Guns will take one of the following options: (1) If an item's correct price is lower than our stated price, we will charge the lower amount and ship you the item; or (2) if an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you are not satisfied with your purchase due to any errors or inaccuracies, you may return it in accordance with our return procedure. Discounts are limited-time offers and are not valid with other offers.</div></div>

Bottom line is with what's going on with everything else, they likely didn't even have time to call you to discuss why the order was cancelled, just move on to the next order in the flurry of everything coming in. I'd say just let it go.

Re: online purchase

If I thought it was a pricing error I would let it go. I am not trying to get over on anyone.
If it was a legit price and they cancelled the order to sell the item at a new higher price because people are going nuts I would have an issue.
I ordered a hydraulic ram for my engine hoist from northern tools many years ago. It was something like $100. when I called in to order it and gave them the part number it came up at $10. I told them it was not right thinking they were going to send me the wrong part. When I got my new $10 ram there was a handwritten note letting me know they messed up but they honored the price because it was their fault. I have bought alot of stuff from them over the years because they are a stand up company. I would not expect most companys to do that but it was cool they did.

Re: online purchase

my grandson is going thru the same issue with a very low rifle price. his dealer, who i know to be honest,is getting all kinds of BS excuses why the gun hasn't shown. don't know if the jerk off is from the distributor level or the manufacturer. it is a manufacturer who i have had several dealers tell me is notorious for screwing people. i think it is a matter of the low price having been paid well before the current crunch and somebody realized the price is going to jump way up and is holding out for what will be a much higher current price. i bet he isn't getting the gun. is this unethical? who can say? it's the way it's gonna be though,i think.

Re: online purchase

Thanks guys for the responses I was thinking just let it go, but was having some doubts as this is not the first time this company has done this and I could not find any policy about this on their website.

Re: online purchase

I'd really like to now what company so I don't order from them in the future.

I always use a credit card to purchase things on line because it give me that extra safety net when things like this happen. If shit goes awry I just do a charge back and let my credit card company deal with the merchant. I never try to swindle anybody so I win the argument 100% of the time as I keep records of e-mails, prices offered at the time etc.... You same situation happened to me before where I ordered a certain item that said in stock, I called to even ask if it was in stock and got the green light and I even got an e-mail saying it was in stock all at a great price. A few days later I got an e-mail saying the item was on hold and had gone up in price due to recent demands etc..... I called them and told them what they were doing was bullshit but said to go ahead and send it so they did even though the woman's response was "it is what it is". When I got it I filed for a chargeback of the difference and gave my credit card company all the info needed to show them the price I had purchased the item originally. My wife and I have a very good credit standing with this credit card as you can only get it with a very high credit score. Naturally I won and was credited back the difference. I got a call from the company asking that I pay the difference and my response was "it is what it is" (I cant tell you how good it felt to say that). I explained that their unethical price changing was a bullshit move after I had verified 3 different ways the product was in stock and at the sale price and not to worry that I would never buy from them again.
