Hey all,

Im looking for one pair of do all shooting sticks for my bolt gun. I already have a bipod on my rig and i wand to have shooting sticks to so i can shoot from any position.

What ones do you use? Or do you make your own?

Re: Tactical Shooting sticks

I made my own from some walmart walking sticks. They have fliplocks for pretty quick adjustment. I replaced the molded plastic handles with foam and lashed them together below the foam. I can't use them standing but anything from sitting to kneeling is good.

Re: Tactical Shooting sticks

I use the Stoney Point Steady Sticks for hunting. They only go up to 39" high but are very light weight and come with a belt loop carrier. They are three section 14" when folded and open quickly with shock cords

Re: Tactical Shooting sticks

I use the Stoney point that fold out and swist to lock. They don't collapse as much as the above ones but they work from seated to standing.

They are pretty quick, I'd say 2-3 seconds to open and get the legs locked. They have elastic cords running through them like a tent pole, you just untie the cord holding them closed and shake a little to get the sections all connected. I love mine for hunting. I have the Stoney Point set, but mine are the "magnum" so they have a larger diameter tube.

I agree with Jake on the Trigger stick. It is handy. Easy to carry, fast to set up and adjust. It's like a walking stick with a trigger that allows you to quickly adjust the height and has a rubber coated yoke to rest the gun in. It also has a good size rubber foot that won't sink into the ground too bad.

Re: Tactical Shooting sticks

The PRS is nice for sure. If you are just hiking and moving a lot, have a bipod on the gun and expect most of your shot opportunities to be from prone then I would carry my single legged Trigger stick just in case a standing or crouching shot came up.

If you know most of your shooting will be kneeling/standing then the PRS is great.

I have the medium PRS with an extra center rod section I can add. You can add or remove the center rod/rods and go all the way from prone to slightly crouched/standing with the medium PRS that way. (I'm 6'2)

The medium with the extra center post will not be as stable when shooting standing as the large would be.

If most of your shots will be standing then get the large PRS. A bipod on the gun and the large PRS would cover just about anything. Only downside is that the large is...large

Here is an old pic of the gear I had last time I helped someone thin their herd. If I wasn't walking/running/moving as much I would have carried the PRS tripod. A lot of my shooting was from prone on the bipod but I did use the sticks several times.
