A friend of mine is starting out in bolt gun shooting. He is starting the process of looking for a rifle and he wants a bolt gun in 223, with one twist. A 1:7 or 1:8 twist that is . he is looking for a factory bolt gun in 223 with a 1:7 or 1:8 twist. Does anyone know of such a factory offering?

Re: does anyone know of

I do not know of anyone that offers that. Most all I have seen are 1:9. Not sure if there is an aftermarket barrel that is a 1:8 or 1:7 or not.

Re: does anyone know of

Tikka/Sako are 1/8.
Savage 1/9 or 1/7.
Remington 1/9 or 1/12.

Re: does anyone know of

Tikka T3 Varmint is a 1/8. They are not importing them anymore and are pretty hard to find. I bought one with the intention of having it punched out to a 223AI and have not shot it yet.

Re: does anyone know of

Trying to score a Tikka Varmint in .223 is harder than Bill Clinton in a whore house. Cabela's had two at a discontinued price of 569.99 about 6 months ago (a great price, especially by their standards!). One dude in New York bought both of them the same morning I went to buy one...that was the last time I have seen them at a retailer. I have scoured our distributers' websites, to no avail...not a damn thing.

There is a Savage 10fcp-k on the classifieds here, for 600 OBO. I own the same rifle, it is a 9 twist. It will shoot Hornady 75gr Match factory loads damn good. I have only developed a 69gr SMK load for it, but even the 69 grainers are good to go.

Sako 223 varmint 1-8", pricey, but worth every penny

Kjeergards Sports in Lake Benton,MN has a few Tikka's if your looking. Just an hour and half NW of you. They also have a couple .308's, a .260 Rem, and a .223

Just sayin'.... </div></div>
I live twenty minutes from there. They still had all the sporters in those calibers a few days ago when I was in there. Also, it's spelled "Kjergaard" and they have a website (but I'm not sure how up to date it is), as well as selling on Gunbroker. They have a little bit of just about everything and are surely worth checking out.

Edit: now I see the OP is in Washington. Ooops!

Euro optic

They have the tikka sporter for $1450 now, it's an 8 twist, stock is fully adjustable and fantastically comfortable.

Savage makes a model 12vlp dbm in a 1/7 223, they also have other models in the 7-twist, one being the f/tr.

I hope you reload, finding ammo is a bitch right now for the 223.
