i have a new model 10 precicsion carbine in a 223 and it had the bolt release on the trigger guard and without thinking about it i ordered cdi bottom metal and now im trying to get it put together and i dont know how ill get my bolt release to work. any suggestions

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

CDI does make a DBM for the bottom bolt release Savage.
Maybe give CDI a call to see if you can swap it out for the right version for your rifle.

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

They sent me one that says I need file down the release and epoxy something to it but I don't quite understand how it works and Jeff or Pam don't answer down there

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

You got screwed over like I did, never noticed the bolt release until after the gun was purchased. Savage needs their ass kicked for ever coming out with that pos.

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

i only got part of the directions when they shipped it, but ill get it done now thanks AtOne

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

ya savage does need to rethink that but the way it operates is flawless, its a good design for a person thats not going to modify the gun at all

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

I have an action like that. I plan on modifying it to use their traditional bolt release. The only difference between the traditional and the 'accustock'version is the sear bracket (like $15 from savage) and the receiver needs a flat spot milled into it where the bolt release sits next to it. I just so happen to have a mill so this is a non issue for me, but i bet any gunsmith could also do it.

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

thanks for that info i didnt know you could swap it out like that my buddy does cnc and has a mill in his garage maybe ill go that route

Re: savage model 10 pc bolt release relocation

Only kicker is savage will only sell that part to a gunsmith. But any local gunsmith shouldn't have a problem ordering it for you.

You will also need to mill out a small amount behind the rear action screw on the top side.
