I'm looking to pick up an AR for varmint hunting and some three gun. After looking around I'm stuck between Rock River and Double Star. I'm looking at the Rock River LAR A4 Varmint and I have shot one. I like the RR but the DS Midnight Dragon caught my eye. Wondering if anyone has handled one of these? I realize both of these rifles are a bit too long/heavy for three gun but it would be more for varmint, with occasional three gun use. Any info would help.
thanks
Donald

Re: Double Star??

i like double star lowers cuz their rollmark looks cool. whole rifles i couldnt tellya but lowers are pretty much lowers. rra and ds are both good companies imo.

Re: Double Star??

doublestar/JT Distributing are good to go. i have two of their lowers, and will be putting at least one of their uppers on one of them. they also offer an LE/mil discount, per their website, if you're so qualified.

Re: Double Star??

I am fairly certain DoubleStar lowers are made by JV Precision Machine, same company that makes LRB lowers & their hammer forged M14 receivers.

Re: Double Star??

Stag makes a dedicated 3 gun rifle that works great as a varmint gun as well. If you can get your hands on one, definitely the way to go. A buddy of mine has one and he loves it. I'll dig up some specs for you.

Re: Double Star??

Just picked up a Doublestar SuperMatch 24" upper on a CMMG lower with Magpul butt and grip, can't wait to take this thing shooting...
