Any input on this trigger? Did a search and got a few bits of info. Looking for input from actual users field experience.

Starting a build and trying to nail down my trigger choice. Rifle will be an in the dirt, match/hunting rig.

Thanks

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

I have been running one in my primary comp rifle for the last 18 months or so. It has seen a few matches, rain, and a decent amount of dirt with nary a hiccup. The unit takes a little trial and error to set up, but once you get the hang of it it is quite simple.

read this article to learn how to set up and adjust the trigger.

I am a big fan of a good two stage and for me, this is by far the best option for the 700.

Give the company a call and chat with the owner, Tom Myers. He will answer whatever questions you may have.

FYI if you are running it with a Surgeon bottom metal you will need to shave a little bit of metal off the end of the trigger shoe.

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

Ive got the tactical model on my 6 creed and I might say its a sweet trigger. Pretty sure Tom told me its set at 10oz.

I adore mine. It has been 100% reliable in a wide variety of conditions.

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

I have a Huber in my M2008+AICS 2.0 build and love it although I havent gotten it out to the range to much due to it being the middle of winter here in AK.

From what I saw theyre about the same price, Huber wants $325, my CG Tactical with no safety was $330.

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

The CG Extreme triggers feel great once you have them set up. I never thought I'd be a 2 stage guy, but I think am hooked.

Hubers used to be a fair whack cheaper up until December last year iirc.

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

For 2-stage triggers you really only have 2 choices: Huber and CG
I am a Recent convert from Huber. THey dont even really compare.

I was recently turned onto the fact that Hubers have a reset point on their triggers that has teh potential for an acidental discharge. This "reset" will lighten the 1st stage pull after the first time you pull it, but before you engage the 2nd stage. Firing or re-engaging the safety is only way to reset the 1st stage. THis was never a problem for me until Dustin/See on here let me know that if you slam your rifle down on the butt, or if the rifle is not handled properly, the trigger WILL actuate, causeing a Accidental Discharge (AD). NEVER A GOOD THING.

I have 2 Hubers. One older (couple years) and a newer one. The newer one is supposed to be set at a lighter pull weight than my old one, but I have always felt the pull is harder. From the research I was able to do, that was Huber's fix to the AD, stiffening the 1st stage, which I guess stiffens the 2nd stage as well.
THat is my guess as to why the price of the Hubers have gone up so high, as they have fixed the AD problem, but I dont know for sure.

SO after I was educated on the shortcomings of my Huber, I ordered a CG Extreme trigger, and it showed up couple weeks ago. I have shot with it only a couple times, and countless dry-fire, but so far I really like it. It is completely adjustable, from first stage pull weight, 2nd stage pull weight, creep, and shoe location. Also, the trigger can be adjusted to be single stage only if so desired.
(I ordered the Tactical model, but they sent the adjustable trigger one by acident. As I am going to TPRC in a couple weeks, I would rather become familiar with this trigger than chance not getting other one back in time. I also like the flat shoe.)

SO, I really like the CG, as the pull is crisp and adjusted to my liking, not a factory setting that cant later be adjusted.

Im getting this out there, as when I ordered my Huber triggers, there was nothing but raving reviews of the trigger, when in reality, there was a very serious design flaw (which I am not sure, but I believe they fixed)
Would also like to state I have never had an accidental discharge on any of my Hubers and I have used my older one for over 2 years (and over 2k rounds fired on 2 different rifles). THat being said, others have told me of their ACTUAL experience, and I was able to duplicate a scenario of AD after hearing of it happening to another. AFter that, I ordered the CG next day.

Good Luck
DT

PS I ordered my trigger from Champion SHooters Supply

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

I have two of these triggers. I reaaly like the 2 stage. It has a very positive stop after the first stage, even at 8oz. 4oz first stage and 4oz second stage. It is infinately adjustable and the first stage can be taken completely out to shoot as a single stage trigger. I also like that I can cant the trigger slightly to hit the pad of my finger perfectly without reaching. I use both of mine in Surgeon actions without issue other than trimming the trigger stem. I no longer own a jewel.
One other thing, I have never seen one of these triggers giveit up from a pierced primer. I have killed both Jewel and stock Remington with a hot load during load development.

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

I have a variant of this trigger as an OEM RPA unit. Wanted to replace it with a Jewell a while back, but then I´ve learned how to set it up properly

It takes a bit more fiddling than your average trigger, but results are suberb. It is recommendable to loctite the screws once you´re set, there´s quite a bunch of them to walk on you in all directions.

Re: CG X-treme mod 22 tactical trigger

Am I the only one that has noticed that this trigger isn't what I would call a true two stage? I bought one for my F-Class rig and was very disappointed at first. I love the trigger on my Anschutz and for me it sets the bar. Was told the CG is as good or better. The issue I have with it is, it doesn't pull back like the Anschutz. It lifts up against a stop then travels back. If you own one this will make sense. I'm getting use to it and it does break clean but a very screwy design. The first stage travel is up not back.

CG Mod22 Adjustment help needed

Hi Guys,
I've just stumbled into you great site - superb :)

I've just purchased a 'pre-loved' CG Mod22 for my full custom .204 built on a Lawton Action with a Border Barrel. Although i'm loving the Mod22 over my jewell I'm have a spot of trouble and was wondering if anyone could help?

Essentially the trigger pull is heavier than what i need and I can't seem to find any info on lightening the trigger or replacing the 2nd stage trigger spring. Would able be able to help with the following bit of information

1. #4 - do you screw this in to lighten the trigger?
2. if you wanted to replace the spring do you take #4 screw out? I have withdrawn the screw several turns until it gets a touch tight....do i continue :)

3. Living in the UK is there a spec of spring i could purchase on this side of the water that would lighten the pull of the second stage?

Many thanks for any help given,
I'm now going to find the 'introdution page'

Chris
