Been talking to a guy with a new fnx tac .45 about a possible trade. I'm just wondering if anyone has one or has had any experience with one.

Re: fnx tac .45 worth it?

Great guns. Fun to shoot, but way too big to carry. If you plan on using a suppressor, then it is worth it. No need for it without a suppressor. Tall sights and threaded barrel are useless. Thats where the extra cost comes into play with this particular gun.

Re: fnx tac .45 worth it?

Just get the FNX 45 USG. Got one last Nov., ran a hard 300 rds the first trip, and was severly impressed. 20 yards rapid fire stayed within the head. Almost 1911 accurate.... Love the FNX 45 USG!! Far surpassed my Sig 220, far surpassed my g19s, getting a p30 this weekend to see how it compares.

If you want to shoot the FNX supressed, just drop in a threaded barrel later and get an osprey, no need for tall sights, and spend the extra $400 or $500 on ammo and mags if you can find em.

Re: fnx tac .45 worth it?

Have one and love it. Have a RMR and a osprey. Would buy it again.

If I do not have a can or plan on getting one then the reg version might be fine for you. The reg version will not allow you to put the RMR or Burris fastfire on top.

Very well built!!!!

Have one. Great gun. Very accurate. Have an RMR on mine (RM05). Tall sights enable co-witness through the red dot. Trijicon sights.

Great gun.

And with 15+1 capacity . . .

Here's mine:

I love it, shot one and really was impressed. Didn't buy one though, the ergos and I don't jive just a personal thing. I have dainty hands, probably all the piano lessons when I was a kid, aggressive grips tend to bother me. The gun itself is fantastic. I'll have to look at my log book but If I remember it shot a 2" group at 25 yards for me at a rest. I do know it fast on follow ups, and I remember loving the tall sights for fast aquisition. Decent trigger pull, can be carried cocked and locked and really nice details like the flat mount on the slide and the threaded barrel was standard not metric. Oh, and I loved the case it came in.. Small thing but it was best factory presentation I've seen in a long time.

Re: fnx tac .45 worth it?

love mine but its a impractical carry gun but i cant think of a better platform for a supressor

Re: fnx tac .45 worth it?

They are soft shooting. They are large. You could carry it, but that's the long way around the barn door. You'll get tired of that. So in the end you won't. If you plan on running suppressed, you NEED the taller sites or a red-dot.

So if that is your plan, go ahead and get it. You can actually run it suppressed and not have to modify the weapon which hurts value. It's not a practical gun for the average person, but you could run it hard and it'll take it.

By chance is it Black or FDE? Not sure the FDE's are out in the FNX yet. Reason I ask is it seems most people are down with the brown. Meaning they sell faster. Something to consider if you ever want to get out of it.

But the $64 question. What's the trade?

Re: fnx tac .45 worth it?

I have the FNP 45 Tac. / its a large gun you can fire all day, everyday in comfort with great sights. IMHO its best to use full power loads and 230 grain ammo. My FNP did not like light loads or light bullets (my glock dod not either ).

If you want a full size hi-cap .45 its a good pick.

They are. My local shop where I did the transfer on my black one got a FDE one in and sold it in less than 30 minutes from being put in the case. For $1600!
