He experts, I just picked up a Savage 10 FCP-K in 308 and will start working up a load for it using XBR, Wichester brass, 155 Scenars, and BR2s. I'm coming over from the Remington 700 where length wasn't an issue since my AI mags were the limit of my cartridges not the long throat of the 700. I'm assuming this isn't the same on the Savage so just wondering at what seating depth should I start my workup. I do not have a chamber gauge yet and will get one on order as funds allow.
Anyone else using the same componants and action? If so what's working for you?

Thanks as always.

I have a savage hs 308 fcp i seat 168g hornady bulkets at 2.850 to bullet tip. With 43 g of varget and it shoots 5 shots almost in the same hole at 200.. fed 210match primers.. hope this helps

My Savage 10FP had a very short leade. Fed 168gr GMM, had .008 to the lands (2.805"oal) Construct a dummy cartridge with a slight neck crimp, and seat the bullet with the bolt.

I just checked the 155 Scenars in my fcp. 2.840 coal puts the bullet in the lands. You can check yours yourself pretty easily with a rod and some tape and a dial caliper.
Insert and lock your bolt. Put the rod down the muzzle until it stops. Take a piece of tape and put it flush with the muzzle and wrap it around the rod. Then remove thebolt and slide the rod back enough to put a bullet in the chamber. Use another rod (i actually used a cleaning rod guide) to push the bullet into the throat until it touches the lands and hold it there. Push the other rod that has the one piece of tape on it down the barrel until it touches the tip of the bullet and mark it again with another piece of tape. Measure the distance between the two pieces of tape and you have your coal.

Bodywerks-
Thanks for the info! I'll give this a shot and see what I come up with. Do you keep your Scenars touching the lands or back them off? What length do you start with when working up a new load? And do you find your magazines limit your length?

Thanks again, truly appreciate it!
