Does anyone have a line/contact/source for 175 gr. 308 Black Hills or 175 gr. 308 Fed Gold Medal Match ammunition?

I know panic buying has dried a lot of ammo supplies up, and I'm a little late to the party, but I expected it to be mainly .223 that would be depleted.

I was wrong.

<span style="font-style: italic">Any</span> suggestions will be <span style="font-style: italic">greatly</span> appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time.

Best bet is to load your own...Start with a Lee Loader, decent scale and get to work, until you can afford a press and what not...

I'm having good luck with Freedommunitions -- I have been denied several times because I live in Newtown but, they were good to go.

It's taken 2-3 weeks but, very good reviews.

Denied for being in Newtown??? Time to move...It will only get worse.

Re: Is there ANY source for 175gr 308?

Even before panic buying 175 gr FGMM was near impossible to find, but 168 gr was plentiful. One week before the sentinel event, I ordered a 2 year's supply from SGAmmo.
Try them out, they have a reliable email notification system - which is how I got my premium ammo from them. Good luck.

Palmetto was the best price on the FGMM before the panic. i ordered 20 boxes back in the spring for $19 per. i think they went up a couple of bucks a box, but they seem to be in stock more than out on that ammo.

good luck

Trying to find 175gr. SMK's "In-Stock" is ridiculous (or, any decent ammo that isn't .22lr, for that matter)...my local shop never has it!

Magnum, I feel your pain, sir!

Re: Is there ANY source for 175gr 308?

Thank you all for the thoughtful replies, I sincerely appreciate them.

I believe I'm going to buy a Dillon Progressive Reloader, some Redding Competition Dies, and try to find a source for brass, powder, primers and bullets. I know primers are going to be a bitch to find, but I'll try anyway.

Could I trouble you gentlemen for some brass/powder/bullet supplier recommendations and some pet loads? I can assure you, even with perfect ammo I won't be a match for anyone on this forum in a competition.

Re: Is there ANY source for 175gr 308?

I just bought 200rds of 175gr FGMM at my local Academy Sports this past Saturday. My brother bought 100rds and there was a good bit left. $24.95/box

It is out there so my suggestion is check those type places if you have a big box sporting goods store locally

Have you gone looking for components lately? I don't know about where you live, but you aren't going to find bullets, primers, and to some extent even powders at the moment.

I've checked Bass Pro Shops and Sportsman's Warehouse, and neither has 175gr SMK bullets or LR primers. Nor do either of them have Varget powder (my powder of choice).

I've got about 280 bullets and two pounds of powder left, so things will be looking ugly for me in a few more weeks if things don't change on the supply side.

I hear ya'!

I found some 175 grain 308's at one of the links on this thread and bought 100 rounds for grins. I'm going to go the reloading route, and new cartridges are more plentiful than components. This same hoarding happened the last time the Oxygen Thief was selected - it just took 6 months for the manufacturers to catch up to demand; I know - I ordered 5000 Federal 215 GMM primers from Bruno's in February and I got them in June.

Cleaned out up here too...However, on a side note, it's -22F out today, so I don't think I will be heading to the range anytime soon...My trigger finger may say otherwise though LOL

From Copper Creek website...

"There is currently no .308 in stock. We are accepting orders and filling them in the order they were place. We are receiving supply shipments daily and continue to produce ammunition. We apologize for the inconvenience and assure you we are working hard to maintain are stock levels and usual fast shipping times."

Re: Is there ANY source for 175gr 308?

In the for sale section "options and accessories" a guy has 1320 rounds of new 175gr. 7.62x51 fgmm for sale. Check it out.

Re: Is there ANY source for 175gr 308?

Southwest has Federal GMM...for <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 17pt">$35.00 </span></span>a box!

Re: Is there ANY source for 175gr 308?

Going to send in about 500 cases of brass to Southwest Ammo in the next few days and have them reload them for me. I ideally want to invest in a reloader but cant find components. So I will just have them do it for me for the time being. Says .60/round....not bad.
