A positive range report for the Kimber Tactical

It followed me home from the gun show. I'd seen it there the last couple of times. I'd read some reviews on here, seems the accuracy of these can be hit or miss. The owner was there this time and I was able to discuss the rifle's history (and he dropped the price a couple hundred). He even carried around a "wallet group" that he'd shot with this rifle. Looks like this is one of the good ones they made.
Kimber Tactical in 308, pretty much stock from the factory. Loaded up some 168 smk's over H4895 as that's what he told me it liked. Here's the two best groups at 200 yards out of 20 shots.
I'll probably send it to CDI for some DBM, otherwise its great as is. VERY smooth action, trigger is perfect, I even really dig how it looks.

Great looking rifle and definitely a shooter. Great colors on the stock.

Thanks for sharing this, I am new at the long range shooting and I am playing with different factory loads in a Kimber Advanced Tactical and have not found one it loves. I am new at reloading also so I was looking for some options for this rifle.. Would you mind posting all the load data ? Thanks

sure. as always start low and work up.

the load that was passed onto me and used in my ONE range session is a 168 SMK over 42 gr H4895 with Wolf LR primers.

Made it out to the range again. These were my first two groups, first group was four shots as it included the cold bore then three more, second is three shots. Both at 200 yards.
I really really enjoy shooting this rifle. Some rifles feel better than others, some just feel "right".
