For those of you out there with a Boyd's 10/22 Tacticool stock, did you bed it or not? Does it need to be bedded or does it shoot well without?

Bedded mine. Do not like the idea of an action in a wood stock without bedding compound.

Bed it to get the best results in accuracy. You will be amazed at how accurate the rifle can be once bedded.

bedded mine it's great. the way boyd's stocks are inlaid requires the action to go in at an angle but makes for a very solid bedding.

I can't find the bedding a 10/22 thread... anyone?

I have had best results bedding the front action screw area and a few inches of the barrel, leaveing the rear of the receiver alone. Also installing a full length pillar like the one in the pic makes a big difference.

That looks good. I am going to bed my 10/22 once I get my stock. Will be my first bedding job. Hopefully I wont screw it up.

I have not ever bed any stock, how does that pillar go in there? You have to grind it down?

Re: Boyd's 10/22 Tacticool stock, Bed or Not to Bed?

Just my opinion, but, Its probably the bedding around the pillar and the barrel thats giving you the accuracy....The pillar is there for crush strength and solid tightening to get the torque right,as these rifles are finicky about torque..somwhere between 20-30 inch lbs. That being said, its still a good thing to have. I have installed one of these http://www.coolguyguns.com/Receiver-rear-tang_p_105.html on one of my 10/22's with a front pillar and bedding with great sucess...2 take down points ... mo better

Well hell I took a shot at it.

Used a 9/16 pillar, Drilled out the shitty threaded retainer and the went about it like any other bedding job. I bedded a bit father up the barrel. I will see how she works this week.
