Councilman Rick Almberg walks out of the council meeting after not getting his way to strip the public of their rights. Mayor Scott Dudley steps up and shows his support. There are apparently still some good guys up there.

I just emailed the mayor as well. I figured he would have just left it when the motion failed, but when he commended the man for carrying I wanted to thank him for that.

Also the lawyer was awful wordy. When asked of the legality of the motion afterwards I wish he had just turned on the mic, leaned forward, and just said, "Shenanigans, sir."

It's strange how we have such high regard for those doing the right thing, as if they're going WAY out of their way, taking some extreme stance, or making some incredible statement. I live in Oak Harbor and have known Dudley personally for a decade. I went to high school with his wife.

He is fighting an uphill battle in this city. So the email attaboys will mean more than imagined.

The city has been run by the "Dutch Mafia" since inception and Dudley is one of the first outsiders to take on the good 'ol boys.

You are all wrong about Almberg...he's worse than you think.

The video was cut over an all day period, people gradually come and leave during the session, so I guess the speech given at the end was towards the end of the session, when the whole vote was taken and such you don't see people immediately leaving.
