Rifle Scopes NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

Wow. I'm considering the same two also. Platform is a GA Precision build in 260 Rem. This would be my first true long range set up. If anyone has has insight, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks

Personally I would pick the NF. I have compared the USO to the NF on multiple occasions, and the NF had consistently better glass. The USO is a nice scope, but the NF was clearer. Can't go wrong with either though.

Both very good scopes. NF may have more clear glass. USO more build options.

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

USO glass has come a long way. I have noticed newer made scopes have had more clear glass then older models.

While both are quality optics... USO all the way.

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

I have both scopes but different reticles (NF - NP-R1F1 and USO MDMOA and also a PCMOA). I find the glass to be very comparable and when shooting distances the differences even become that much less. For me it would come down to which reticle do you find the best for your shooting. How is the numbering systems on the reticle, thickness of the stadia lines...the things that make you really love the scope or just like it. If you can find someone that is close to you that has either both or at least one of them it would give you better idea of which one you like.

Both are very nice scopes and you won't go wrong with either one.

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

If you're doing real long range I would recommend USO. More options like the internal bubble level (AWESOME FEATURE) and more magnification while still keeping FFP. I haven't got my hands on the new NF BEAST yet, but my impression from the videos is they went too far and over-complicated it. NF is impressive glass though and you really can't go wrong with either, but my preference is still USO.

Also, I've had to use USO customer service in the past and it was top notch. I've never used NF customer service so I can't comment as to their level, but I'm sure it's up there as well. I know... not helping really, lol...

+1... OP if you put up your location you might be able to find some locals who will let you look through both. Or maybe attend a local match/get-together.

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

I just made a deal on a NF F1, I have owned a 5.5-22NF and I have owned USO in 3.2-17 and 5-25. I really liked the NF so I decided to go with their F1 model. I have a good friend who is in 5th group and they run the NF F1. I recently went to Frank Proctors precision rifle course in Alabama, he is a SOTIC instructor and he was running a milspec F1 on his personal rifle. That is where I got to actually get some hands on experience with one. I really like it and I figure if they are good enough to be issued to the guys in Special Forces then it is probably good enough for whatever I'm going to do with it. Which will be using it on a long range hunting rifle/ practice for my long range hunting

Both are good but I just like the simplicity and durability of USO, but id shoot with my NF any day aswell...

Oh and I really like the rear optics adj (diaopt-something) on the USO to really get a crisp clear sight picture...

I'm not 100% positive being that I'm not in that community, but I'm fairly certain USO has contracts and are also used by many SF.

They may very well be using USO on some teams as well. I know nightforce is what they are running on that particular team, but I agree with you. I bet if you did some looking you would find some USO's riding some rifles in certain special operations groups. Those guys get a lot of freedom as to what kind of gear they get to use

Whichever costs less and whichever you can mount first. Waiting for it has a cost, and neither is special enough to have to wait.

Good luck

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

I was looking at the same question. I ordered the NF on friday(1/27). I called both companies and spoke to each. NF was more helpful. Also NF is based out of ID/GA and USO out of CA. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

USO has more features and bells and whistles. None of which I have found I wanted. I like the brute strength and durability of a scope over just about anything. NIGHTFORCE gets my $$$

USO makes some nice stuff, not knocking it.

Re: NF F1 3.5-15x VS USO SN-3 3.2-17x TPAL ......

I shot both scopes and the US Optics won bi a big margin. Everything on the USO turned so much nicer glass was a lot better and I loved the EREK knob so I got a used one hear on the hide.
