Hello fellow Hiders!

I was curious to know if anyone has been able to get their hands on one of these packages from Impact Guns and how their experience with the rifle has been (solid, accurate, junk, etc).

http://www.impactguns.com/socom-cqb-ench...e-socom-21.aspx

I've been wanting one of these for a while now and sent them an email to try to get an idea on a build date or even to put a down payment on...Haven't heard back yet.

I searched around for a while before posting this, but if it has already been talked about, please shoot me the thread. Any info on this topic would help me out a lot. Otherwise, I will invest in something else.

Thank you!

Re: SOCOM CQB M1A Enhanced Rifle Package

It's a ceracoted Socom 16 in a Sage chassis with an eotech... not sure what's so fancy about it. From what I read it doesn't sound like they rework anything to increase accuracy. Just drop it in a Sage and that's the accuracy improvement.

You could probably buy a Socom 16, Sage chassis and eotech for less than they're asking for the package. The action won't be ceracoted, but that's not really importalnt. Also looks like they include SA Inc. mags which cost more than they're worth. Better off buying CMI mags for about half the cost.

Re: SOCOM CQB M1A Enhanced Rifle Package

I have had a socom 16 for a few years now and with the battle sights it is a several minute gun while my ar carbine is sub 2 minutes with irons, both at 100. That said I have not scoped it yet but would like to with a basset mount to see what it will do without the bulky front post. I wouldn't expect better results with the eotech.

Re: SOCOM CQB M1A Enhanced Rifle Package

way overpriced. you could build it yourself for way less. the m14 forum has all the parts you need for sale in their wts section right now. cmi mags from 44mag.com are the way to go. springfield mags are cmi mags, just marked with the springfield logo and 2 times the price. the Sage Mod 1 chassis is a big improvement and the better choice imo. I loved my EBR when I had it, but there are better options for the price that don't take nearly as much time or effort to be more reliable and accurate.

Re: SOCOM CQB M1A Enhanced Rifle Package

Thank you very much to all of you for your input! I tried to respond last night, but chrome wasn't cooperating...stupid internet garbage!

On a plus side, before the craziness started I had already ordered some Check Mates in anticipation of finding a M1A to buy. I have always really wanted one and actually prefer the Scout Squad or original length to the SOCOM. I thought during this time we are in it wasn't an insanely bad deal seeing as how Sage stocks have skyrocketed and are harder to find...not to mention just the price of a M1A.

This is the only firearm forum I belong to and seeing as you guys are more versatile than myself, I will take your advice.

Thanks again to all!

Well, I AM a huge GA Prec. fan! Your point is very valid, indeed, sir! Thank you.

Invincible03,
If you are looking for a M14 or variant go to: http://m14forum.com Its a great place to learn about the platform and like here has a lot of good guys with good information ready to help you. Like here there is an exchange forum with lots of quality M14/M1A's. Just figure out the type/distance shooting you plan on. The SOCOM is CQB driven with that large rear aperture and fat tritium front sight.

As fas as the Impactguns package, you can find the parts and rifle for 1/2 the cost going the exchange/ forum route. I know of more than a few guys that have had problems with the EoTech heating up and almost "fogging" the hologram after extended shooting practice. I owned a SOCOM and while fun to shoot, it limits options and ugrades. That set up is also heavy, and the SOCOM M1A doesnt alllow many options for brakes or sights (because of the 1 piece GLFS).

PM me if you have more questions, and good luck with your search.

Re: SOCOM CQB M1A Enhanced Rifle Package

@Tack425: I appreciate the advice! Will have to dig around and see what I can find. If not, I can always go "33shooter's" route with the GAP-10, which for some reason wasn't even on my radar...I must have bumped my head LOL!

I am never surprised by the extensive knowledge base and diversity of opinions in this forum...that's why I have always loved it!
