How much elevation travel do you get from 0 @100 yards? The scope is a NXS 12-42 X 56 NP-R1 I am only getting 23 MOA of elevation and 26 negative elevation.

Re: Nightforce Question?

I dont know if i understand. Are you asking how much travel one would have after zeroing?
If so, that would depend on the rifle, caliber, if you are using a base with moa built in, how the sun and moon are aligned. jk on the last one.
Also from this question, what is your endstate? Such as, i want to shoot my 308 at 1000 yards, ect.

lol, you edited while i was typing.

Re: Nightforce Question?

nightforce website says 65 moa for the 8-32. im gonna venture to say you need to get a base with some moa built in.

Re: Nightforce Question?

I bought the scope to use at 500 yards and 1000 yards. I zeroed it today @ 100 yards. I have badger 20MOA base mounted. With zero @100 yards. The scope will only go up 23 MOA. I need 29MOA FOR 1000YARDS. It's a Remington 700 5R 24" on a Accuracy international stock.

Re: Nightforce Question?

The only thing i can think of is that the base is installed backwards. But when you say that you only get 23 up and 26 down. that is not 65moa. unless someone smarter than me can solve this, i would say call nightforce.

Re: Nightforce Question?

Yup, calling them first thing in the morning. Something doesn't seem right. Bad thing is I have a match Feb. 5th -10

Is this a 8-32x, or a 12-42x? The 12-42x is specified to offer only 45 MOA of total elevation. If it's a 8-32x, you should be getting 65 MOA of total elevation.

Re: Nightforce Question?

Vinson nailed it, try a 30 moa base next.

Unless you set it up perfectly 12-42 NSX barely has enough adjustment to get to 1000. It can be done, buy you might be trying a couple bases before you get it just right.

Re: Nightforce Question?

Contacted Nightforce. They said the 12-42x56 doesn't have enough adjustment for a .308 out to a 1000 yards. Even if I put a 40MOA BASE. I would have 2.5 down and maybe 42.5 up. .308 drop at a 1000 is around 39MOA. So I would be on the edge up or down to 0 @100 and come up to a 1000 yards.

Re: Nightforce Question?

Thats about what I have on mine. But I imagine you are handloading and getting a little better velocity than store bought ammo? Even then you can hold over with your reticle to achieve what you need to do right?
