Any of these scopes will work for what I am going to do, but I want to hear from people who have them. Which is the better more dependable scope: 6-24x50mm FFP Bushnell Elite, SSHD 5-20x50mm, or the 6.5-20x50mm Mark 4 ER/T. Also thinking about the HDMR as well. I have read droves of writes up on these scopes, but just cant decide which one to take the plunge on. Its for a do all .308. I hunt and long range target shoot with this rifle. I am leaning toward the SS because of the 10 mils per turn and the lower zoom(5X). Also I can get the ER/T pretty cheap so take money out of the equation. Any thoughts?

Re: Quality and Dependability

I used to own a SS10x42, then a 3.5-10x40mm mk4. Then I owned a 10xhd SWFA, now I rock a swfa 5-20. The mk4 took alot of abuse. After selling it to a close friend of mine it keeps on trucking. (his brother was an us army sniper in OIF swears by the mk4)Right now I LOVE my 5-20 and it's been a great scope. It's also been perfectly durable for the +-8 months I've owned it. It's been anything but babied. I have no plans of getting rid of it. Can't speak for the bushy. But the SWFA and the mk4 are surely GTG. Both are very well made and have great track records.

Re: Quality and Dependability

I love my HDMR with a g2 reticle. Only downside to these is finding rings for them. Choices are limited but the HDMR is well worth the extra cost.

Re: Quality and Dependability

It would depend on the reticle you like. I like the TMR reticle better than the SS scope. I do own both new SS12x and the Mk4 M5 6.5-20. I tkink the SS and mk4 are good choices. I lean more towards America made stuff when I can but Swfa is great to deal with to.

Re: Quality and Dependability

Exactly, reticle choice.
The G2DMR can be had for under $850 in a Bushnell ET6245 FFP, no zero stop or illumination, somewhat limited travel (19 mil, 65 MOA) good glass, lifetime warranty, and I like the turrets, although some do not.

Check grabagun if you're interested.

Re: Quality and Dependability

I absolutely agree on the TMR reticle. I dont think there is a better reticle design yet. It is perfectly sized in their FFP models as well. Not to thick at highest power and not to hard to see on lower powers. I think the Mark 4 is in the lead. However I might have to go with 4.5-14x50mm due to the slight field of view on the 6.5-20 at lower powers.
