Rifle Scopes Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I sure hope so. I have been waiting for Leupold to offer either the TMR reticle or mildot reticle in this scope.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Anxiously waiting as well for TMR.....can anyone confirm if it was at SHOT?

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Sucks that all reticles offered on this scope aren't illuminated.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

The one that I saw had a Tremor 2 reticle though I could check with the rep to see if TMR is in the wings. I will be e-mailing her in the next couple of days. As for illumination, it is forthcoming.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

The TMR is coming. The part # is 115943. Probably going to be my next scope.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

And Illumination is coming too.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Have one with the H58 reticle, I think the glass is great! I am no expert in glass, but it is clear, and does everything I need it to do. Adjusting the parallax out is way better than a MK4.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I already pre-ordered one with the TMR, the rep said they should be shipping around the middle of February, IIRC... Can't wait!

When did you order yours? Direct from Luepold? I noticed they pre-authorized my card last week, but after the weekend the charges were removed, so I'm still waiting.....

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

No I got mine through my work. We are a Leupold distributor. First one we've seen come through. It got here faster than I was expecting.

ETA: I really like the TMR reticle. Glad I went with it.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

It will probably be a little while until I get out and shoot. My rings wont be here until next week. I might get a chance to go the following sunday.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Size comparison nest to my SS 5-20x50 and Bushnell ET 3-12x44.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

The price should be around $2100.00. We have them on order and should be in stock soon. I really like these scopes.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I'm interested. 7oz lighter and 3.5-5" or so shorter than most comparable scopes.

Thats what I like about it as well. I am also a fan of the TMR. I use my 22 barreled custom .308 for hunting as well as long range shooting as it is the only precision bolt gun I own. Shaving some weight off is a good deal.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

RFutch or CSTactical are these confirmed to have lit reticles? The one in the pic above doesn't look like it does but maybe they moved the button? Thanks.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

The TMR does not.

Here are the part numbers and options in the 2013 catalog.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

So looking at the numbers above, it looks disappointing. The low profile turrets and illumination will only be offered with the Tremor reticule and not the TMR. Not even an illuminated TMR? Wow, what a disappointment.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I was pretty excited when I saw the 116448 (illuminated, low pro turret) and then I saw the price at Optics Planet.......... suggest you take a seat................. $4633!!!!!! Um what!!!

You are correct that is the DAGR system by the looks of it. It has the low pro turrets. I'd bet it has the mount, aimpoint mount and aimpoint on there to be that price.

Leupold will really be missing the mark by not allowing those turrets on the others, especiall the mil dot and TMR where dialing adjustments makes more sense. Illumination some can live without, but I would like it. I'm torn now.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

33Shooter I am torn as well. I think illumination is fantastic, but maybe this glass is so good at gathering ambient light that it isn't as big of a concern as we are thinking it is? That's probably just my imagination talking...

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

How many rounds from your rifles have you shot and how many of those firings required an illuminated reticle? The answer will be different for everyone's application and requirements, but for me I have no idea how many tens of thousands of rounds with zero of those needing an illuminated reticle. I understand the attige to have and not need than to need and not have, perhaps it is important to be realistic none the less.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

For me the illumination is for hunting at night for pigs. I can potentially live without it, but with a thin reticule on low power in low light it's nice. I'm more disappointed in the low profile turrets not being offered.

We have a couple of the 115943 ready to ship.

Would that not be more than their new flagship Mark 8?

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I have been having this discussion with the Mil/LEO rep from Leupold as I thought the price was a typo. The illuminated M5C2 with Tremor 2 is nearly $1,500 more than the M5B2 style. I am unable to get confirmation if this includes the DAGR mount and the Aimpoint, but even still, $1,500 for a small mount worth $200 tops and a $400 Aimpoint that leaves about $900 extra for the Illum? What am I missing here?

I'd rather drop $3300 for an S&B 3-20x and maybe mount a Trijicon RMR and keep my change. WTFO?

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Insane in the membrane.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Just got this reply from the MIL/LEO rep at Leupold:

"It is the same adjustments as the DAGR, but not the entire system. The package deal is not currently available for commercial use."

So that is just an extra $1,500 for illum and a short turrent. I believe they have let their recent fame go to their heads...

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

Im sure this will be jsut like the CQBSS when it came out expensive at first and settle down in a bit. probably depends on mil contracts or something. Ill get some other glass and wait for the 3-18 with low pro turrets and illumination with a reticle that I prefer instead of the Tremor.

Actually, looking at the list prices for the Mk6 on opticsplanet.com, it's listed at over $2k more than the same "regular" model with the Horus reticle. Right...good luck with them at that price.

I guess they've got to cover the cost of the engraver putting the Leupold logo on every flat surface of the scope somehow. Haha.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I wonder if that's to slow their sale if the contract is awarded as the contract says they have to deliver in a certain time frame...unless I read that wrong. Just does not make sense.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

@33Shooter, I am not sure, try the crappy Leupold website, it might have some examples in their muckity muck of a Tactical scopes page.

I have to shout out a 'BZ' to Scott @ Liberty Optics though! He had a Mark 6 3-18x with the TMR reticle on hand and I grabbed it for my SCAR. Wow! What an amazing piece of glass. I can't wait to get it into the field soon and give a review but I can tell you the TMR reticle is fantastic.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I'm waiting for this scope to hit promotive to get it at a reasonable price.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

xCavalryx,

Perhaps you could take a few photos of the reticle? Those I've seen of the 1-6x TMR-D lead me to believe that a non-illuminated first focal plane TMR is nothing more than a floating black dot at minimum magnification as the crosshairs are so thin as to be useless. How does your scope look on 3x? If my assumption is correct I'll be going with the Gen 2 mildot Premier Light Tactical because I know that one is highly visible at 3x. But it would be nice to make an informed decision about the Mark 6 rather than overlooking it based on an assumption. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Re: Leupold mk6 3-18 w/ tmr reticle

I can provide a review on this scope as I just got mine earlier this week. The TMR on the MK6 3-18 is appropriately sized especially for a 6x mag ratio. I was more afraid of the reticle being too thick at 18x mag than too thin at 3x.

I'm kind of anal when it comes to glass quality, but thats the price you pay for having good eyesight. Unfortunately this has cost me thousands of dollars upgrading glass and in most cases doesn't improve accuracy, if at all for the ranges I'm shooting at.

For the MK6 the glass is very good. Lots of lower end scopes I've had in the past and even my Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 deteriorated when pushed to the upper limits of their range. The picture loses contrast and has that milky, foggy look to it along with the purplish, bluish outline from the chromatic abberation. The MK6 does not lose image quality. It is still remarably sharp and crisp from edge to edge except with a tiny hint of CA which to most would not even notice. The only comment I have is above 14x or so in less than optimal lighting it starts to get a touch dim, although for its relatively small 44mm bell it is certainly admirable.

Speaking of size, compared to my recently purchased Premier Heritage 5-25x56, it is shorter at 2/3 the length but just looks so much smaller and remarkably only 7x less. Although it isn't much bigger than some 3-9 or 4-12x scopes, it is heavier.

I've owned two other Leupolds with TMR reticle. Two MK4s in 4.5-14 and 6.5-20. This reticle is almost identical with the tiny opening in the middle. I would say the reticle thickness is just slightly thicker at 18x. At 3x, it is still visible but difficult to see if in a darker setting. The reticle is more like two crossed black hairs than a dot. If you move your head around at 3x you can see a little image distortion (fishbowl effect) due to the high ratio. However, this was much less noticable than a Bushnell Elite scope I had with also a high mag ratio. Comparing the glass with the MK4s, the MK6 is easily a step up.

One other point I'd like to mention is regarding the elevation turret. It is a pinch and turn style which locks once released. I've noticed that after turning you need to release the buttons cleanly otherwise it can occasionally not lock and continue to turn however unlikely that may be. This turret feels and sounds similar to my M1 knobs on the MK4s except larger. Some might call it a little mushy, I'm fine with it. A little annoyance is that as usual the 0 arrow indicator doesn't perfectly line up with the turret's hash marks. Same thing as on my MK4s. You'd think after this many years Leupold would get the turret marking alignment right...oh well.

Overall the scope is excellent. How they got 3-18x to fit in this small package amazes me. The glass is very high quality, not quite as good as my Premier but it also doesn't cost 3k+. The turret issue is minor, for me. I am glad to know Leupold customer service will take care of me if anything fails like they have in the past.

As we all have different aspects which we feel are most important to us, for reference, mine would rank in order from most important to least something like: glass quality, price, reticle type and thickness, scope size, magnification range, durability, turret, illumination.

When I get a chance later this weekend I can take some high rez pics of the reticle at different magnification. Somebody remind me if I forget.

By the way I also plan on putting this scope on my SCAR

Nope no circle anywhere just the tiny gap in the center like all MK4 TMRs.
