Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

As with many other good folks here, I absolutely cannot put my hands on H4350 to reload 6.5 Creedmoor. I've read some posts about Reloder 17 but it seems like it's running much hotter. Is the Hybrid 100V a good alternative until supplies catch up? If not, what's a good performing IN STOCK powder that replicates the H4350?
I'm getting frustrated. I have everything lined up except for the powder.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

I use more Viht powders than anything else. I have not loaded for a creedmoor but would look at N140, N150 or N160(N540, N550, N560) depending on bullet weight. Most of these are still available. Powder Valley is where I get mine. Good luck.

according to the burn rate chart (see attached link) Hodgen 4350 is right between IMR 4350 and Rl-17. Consult a loading manual put out by a bullet manufacturer (instead of a powder manufacturer) they usually list more than one powder. Who knows what's in stock? Good luck...

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

I tried RL17 in my creedmoor for a month and could not get it consistent. Not terrible, but not as good as H4350. It was this winter so maybe warmer temps would help but...I hunt when it is cold so I had no use for it. I did achieve about 50-120 fps more than H4350 but it was very inconsistent. I tried 3 different primers 210M, CCI 200 and CCI 250, didn't have any CCI BR2's maybe they are the answer. Tried it with VLD 130, 140 and AMAX 140's. Charges should be about the same or a little more than H4350 according to my tests (with 140's I can get to 42.1 with H4350 and 42.5 with RL17 before pressure signs)
I sent you a pm

Norma N-204
VV N550

Grafs site indicates VV N550 in stock, but you probably should call and confirm it.

AA-4350 is a good substitute for H-4350, but it's a tad longer and doesn't meter as well as H-4350's shorter sticks do.

It's probably cheaper, as well.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

I get better results with N160 out of my .260 rem so have been sticking with that. Very similar loads and ballistics to H4350 for me.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

Reloader 17 is a good alternative, as is AA-4350, IMR4350 and N150, take your pick.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

Hybrid 100 V is working for me and it meters fairly well.

Why is that? The added velocity?

Thanks again guys. I'm making a list and checking the vendors now.

That and it should give excellent accuracy.

Is there any published reloading data for RE17 being used for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

RE 17, without a doubt. You need to take a little more care in measuring your charges because it is a high-energy powder, but if your charges are consistent it will give you great results compared to H4350. I run it exclusively in my match guns now, love the stuff. Charge weights are pretty much identical to H4350, so just use the load data for H4350 as a base line and you'll be good to go.

I cant find any, but I noticed for the 260 Rem H4350 has a 2.5 grain higher max charge with a 140 grain bullet and a 1 grain higher with 120s.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

Any load data the RE17 (Reloader 17?) guys want to share?

<span style="font-size: 11pt"><span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="color: #000099">IMR is not the same</span></span></span>

It will work but is more temp sensitive and the load data is completely different. Not quite as consistent for me.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

And IMR4350 doesnt have the smaller kernels like H4350 has. Sideways you say? Go into your pictures and click on the pic and rotate it, copy it, save it, and youre set.

Re: Can't find H4350. In stock alternative?

IMHO: Nothing is going to work as well in 6.5 (-08, CM, L) as H4350.

In my 'worry' over the current 'shortage' I may get a jug of IMR4350, before doing that I am trying some other powders for my 6.5-08 (260 rem) and non-belted magnums. H4831 and H1000. Pretty slow but I'm chucking some big projectiles. There are other powders that are not 'expected' for loading 223 and 308 that will work and are in stock and most places.

I've got IMR7828 (reg and SSC) for those nice shinny, long belted magnums. Those could work in my non-belted and 260 as well.

Interesting note: With IMR4350, H4831, H1000 and IMR7828 it appears that I can't 'blow my self up' because they pretty much all go to compression before max PSI. Of course this is from the books/websites and each rifle is different so as always, I will start low and work up. If they 'work' then I have an alternative.

There is also "Superfromance". The published loads are all for lighter projectiles but you can call and ask if they have guidelines.
