I assume they shoot about the same. Is there any real advantage to the 90-2? It seems like it would be a little lighter. And is 5 extra rounds worth the smaller caliber? I'm on the fence. I guess either would be fine. Can the two calibers be interchanged in the magazine and the barrel be swapped?

The 90-2 is a whopping 2 ounces lighter. Big deal. Find them in stores and hold both, which ever one feels better to you, get. Controls are otherwise the same, so it just comes down to feel.

The extra rounds worth it? Worth what? I'm a 9mm fan, so I'll say 9mm. Why? CHEAPER. Look at prices for both, and put it against your real world needs. Which caliber would you rather be paying for to shoot at targets at the range..?

9mm cause its cheaper
then choose whatever model you need (rails etc)
forget switching calibers
range with 115gr ball
carry 115 or 125 +p JHP and you're good

I had a 92 Fs and sold it... couple years later got a great deal on the A-1 and that was all she wrote. 9mm was good enough for me and cheap enough to shoot. (at least for another 2k rounds)

Get a forgo the 92a1 if you want a rail get the M9a1. I have a 92a1 it's great there is really not huge difference from the 92a1 to a regular 92 except the internal buffer but you can get the same result with a shock buff. Finding a kydex holster in ANY configuration is a bitch to say the least. You have to get one custom made. Blade-tech will do it but you have to all in as it is not a standard option. Don't listen to the hype, the 9xa1 will NOT fit a vertec or an m9a1 holster period! Trust me I know.

If you do get a M9a1 or a Vertec, I have a brand new G-code OSH I will sell you for cheap!

Definitely get the 9mm. Just because .40 is bigger, doesn't mean it's better than modern 9mm for 90% of the time.

Re: Beretta M92A1 or 90-2? .40 or 9mm?

You could always just buy a M9 and an Insight rail if you really want to mount something to it.

Re: Beretta M92A1 or 90-2? .40 or 9mm?

Just cuz 9mm is cheaper is better than a 40. U need to get what fits u better. Not cuz I like it and it works for me. Means that it also going to work for you. Its what ever you feel more comfortable with.

1bad is right, use what works for you. Shot placement is what counts, if you can't make good hits with it, the caliber won't matter.

I wanted to like the 92A1 but it didn't fit my hand as well as i wanted it to . if money is not a factor you should also check out a HK p30s it fit my hands perfect and shots very nice.
