Relocation input is welcomed!

Re: Relocation input is welcomed!

Been looking to head west in search of a job after I graduate. The usual suspects are all there, WY, OK, TX, NM, ID, MT, and maybe AK for the right balance of cool job/money.

Every consider Michigan? Don't hate on me too hard guys. But...
Tons of fresh water.
Beaches full of beautiful women during the hot months. Lots of fat ones during the winter.
3rd most golf courses in the nation.
Winter sports. IE. Snowmobiling/skiing/snowboarding.
Really really cheap properties of all varieties.
Republican governor for now.
You would be surprised at the gun friendliness of the state. Suppressors, high cap mags, etc are permitted.
Quite a few shootings ranges including a couple 1k ranges and many 600 yarders.
Tons of state/federal land for hunting and fishing.
Not sure on the job prospects but the used house/fixer house market is on the big time up in recent years.

I grew up in the North Western part of the lower peninsula and am not too familiar with Detroit other than it gives MI a terrible reputation. That city is nearly vacant now though.

I agree with JWV, (West and NW) Michigan are not bad at all right now, we can own suppressors, buy pretty much any gun as easily as you can fill out a 4473 and properties are fairly undervalued right now. The weather changes everyday but that is just the way it goes.

If I were making a move, I would consider a place that would allow for life without a car. There is no telling what is ahead with fuel and economy. I would be looking for pre WWII Main Street America type towns that have access to fresh water and farm land. A town that can live without the outside support of other municipalities if need be. A town that has a solid work ethic and values freedom and liberty. A slower pace of life, a more honest pace of life. I will let you know when I find it.

I like what Galena IL has to offer except that it is IL. But this is the model.
