My 300 will be home soon!I have some loads from before the rebuild, but for a sporter barrel. Looking for loads for 190's & 200's SMK's, AMAX. I'll be running a 26" Rock barrel 1:11. Thanks for the replys.
Take your pick..... I lost count on how many different powders I have for mine. R22 and h1000 for the bullet sizes you mentioned. Also h4831 and ram shot mag
I have an 11 twist Obermeyer for my 300 WM and it loves RL-22 with 190 VLD's (0.30 MOA at 600 yards) and H4831sc with 210 VLD's (0.40 MOA at 600 yards). I would try H4831sc first since it's temp stable. But hard to argue the results almost every 300 WM owner gets with RL22? Great powder.
R22 is a love / hate relationship. My .300's love it but I hate it's temp sensitivity. It's gotten so bad that I actually load rounds in the summer and make sure they are chronographed and put long way down range that day bc I can't stsnd it's temp effects. For ex., I made a screw up and ranged a buck at 413 yards. I doped my scope and barely hit him (clean kill though) only to realize he was 327 yards away. I hit LOW! Ran the #'s and I was 2907 that 60 degree day I loaded it. That 25 degree morning I was at around 2760. 143 fps!
AS, that's the same thing with r-17. Too sensitive on temps. It's not worth the time and hassle of developing a load for every 10* on the thermometer. Forget that when I can run h1000 and some 190/208/210's all year long and have consistent dope.
