mark larue is a great guy

Re: mark larue is a great guy

I strongly support what LaRue is doing, as well as what olympic, possibly magpul and others are doing and hopefully do. That said, Ive thought about it quite a bit, and I will admit Ive heard a lot more support from LE during this time than Ive ever heard. Here in Missouri, when they passed the concealed carry law, all I heard from anywhere was how many cops were going to be slaughtered because of the new law. During the first AWB, there wasn't facebook, or forums, just the news, and we were bombarded by LE leaders speaking down their noses at us like we were all wannabe cop killers.

Ive seen a lot of sheriffs on the news this time, stating that they not only don't stand behind the current legislative ideas, but that they vehemently oppose them and will not enforce them. I'm glad to see that kind of shift and appreciate the support in the fight. Its true that not every LEO is that retard standing with feinstein on the unveiling of her proposal but I do think all LEO do need to tell their superiors that they don't believe in it, just like all of us need to be emailling our representatives on a constant schedule that we don't support these laws.

While I disagree with guya like paulosantos about the actions of the manufacturers like LaRue, I'm damn glad to have them on our side and appreciate it.

Re: mark larue is a great guy

I can't believe this thread is still going. I don't know ML, never purchased his products, yet. Even if this is marketing, I appreciate him protecting our rights while he protects his business. We're all going to need to stand together civilians, LEO, and industry leaders. Thanks to those willing to take the first step.

Re: mark larue is a great guy

LARUE TACTICAL rocks just like their products. Never a problem and i appreciate any effort from any company trying to help in these trying times.

Re: mark larue is a great guy

Regardless of what you think of Mark Larue and/or his motive for taking this position (and frankly I have some of those same reservations regarding motive myself) Olympic Arms took the same position yesterday:

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Olympic Arms is a staunch believer in and defender of the Constitution of the United States, and with special attention paid to the Bill of Rights that succinctly enumerates the security of our Divinely given Rights. One of those Rights is that to Keep and Bear Arms.

Legislation recently passed in the State of New York outlaws the AR15 and many other firearms, and will make it illegal for the good and free citizens of New York to own a large selection of legal and safe firearms and magazines. We feel as though the passage of this legislation exceeds the authority granted to the government of New York by its citizens, and violates the Constitution of the United States, ignoring such SCOTUS rulings as District of Columbia v. Heller – 554, U.S. 570 of 2008, McDonald v. Chicago – 561 U.S. 3025 of 2010, and specifically the case of United States v. Miller – 307 U.S. 174 of 1939.

Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity – will no longer be served as customers.

In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York – henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people.

If the leaders of the State of New York are willing to limit the right of the free and law abiding citizens of New York to arm themselves as they see fit under the Rights enumerate to all citizens of the United State through the Second Amendment, we feel as though the legislators and government entities within the State of New York should have to abide by the same restrictions.

This action has caused a division of the people into classes: Those the government deems valuable enough to protect with modern firearms, and those whose lives have been deemed as having less value, and whom the government has decided do not deserve the right to protect themselves with the same firearms. Olympic Arms will not support such behavior or policy against any citizen of this great nation.

Olympic Arms invites all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided.

Sincerely,

Brian Schuetz
President
Olympic Arms, Inc."

Should we also exempt cops from drunk driving laws if they get an emergency call? They should be leading by example. By the way, they have radios for a reason. I was unaware that emergency channels had been switched to text or phone calls.

Furthermore, this argument also works with the gun control debate, reckless driving is already a crime. Therefore, texting or talking on a phone shouldn't be a crime...but if it results in reckless driving, punish the offender for the reckless driving.

/thread. </div></div>

I love how you people go to extremes to try and win an argument. Because we all know drinking on the job is allowed. And you can't call a civilian with a radio. And now you're trying to win by using it as a pulpit for an argument on behalf of gun control because no one wants to be accused of doing that. Tyler you know who else uses extremes and turns arguments into "If you believe that then you're (Insert negative)." to try and win arguments?
</div></div>

And now you've turned to intellectually dishonesty...good job, Broker. Both are things deemed dangerous to do while driving---so dangerous that they have, in many jurisdictions, been outlawed. So police should have access to firearms the public does not. Police should be allowed to text and drive or talk on the phone and drive (in places the people cannot). Why can't you just face the fact, the citizenry cannot and should not give government officials the authority to do things the people cannot do?

</div></div>

Tyler, please stop making us out like we are criminals. We are not allowed to violate the cell phone law and most of us cops aren't hypocrites. Sure there are asshole cops that violate the cell phone laws and it really pisses is off because it makes us look bad. However, there are times when where I've seen cops on their cellphone and it was justified. Even then, we tell our guys to get a Bluetooth.</div></div>

I know in California, Law Enforcement is exempted from the Cellular phone law. It only makes sense since there are many instances where one needs to call to get info on the cal that he is going to. It's about officer safety arriving at the scene or a tactical operation.

Re: mark larue is a great guy

I think a point being missed in Larue's announcement is about "erroneous shipments." It seems like they are not wanting to risk any liability by sending a banned product to a state for someone possibly posing as a LEO etc, or just accidentally forgetting to verify LEO status and sending an order. Yes, I think they are also taking a political stance, but they are also protecting themselves from accidentally letting an order slip through that may not be legal to own in a certain state.
