I'm wanting to take 2+ rifles to the range , one of them is a custom rifle. Which case offered by Pelican fits the bill?

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

are they chunks or lightweight hunters? how long are the barrels? if they're chunks and you wanna fit 'em both in the same case, a storm 3300 is going to be your best bet, but you'll still need to get creative with the templates and hot wire cutter.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

More than likely, a #1750, unless your rifles have looong barrels. One thing to keep in mind though is weight. That model of Pelican case weighs almost 30lbs prior to putting anything into it. So if you're putting 2 beefy rifles into it, it's gonna' be almost as hefty as Roseanne Barr.
Go to Pelican's website & have a look at the specs on their various cases. Both to look up the various available sizes, & what'll fit into each. Along with a listing of their weights, respectively.

I'd suggest a dedicated case for the custom, particularly if you ever plan to travel with it. Thus, you can custom cut the foam for it, along with all of it's necessary accessories & such.
Odds are if said rifle's of significant size with it's scope & other accessories bolted on, you'll need a shoe horn to put it into the case along with another scoped rifle. If they'll both fit in there together at all.

Also, you may find that a Pelican case is a little bit of overkill for just taking your blasters to & from the range. That, & they're kind of spendy for light duty applications. Just my $0.02

I got rid of my 1750 for this reason. The case was too heavy and bulky to travel to and from the range or the ranch. Unless you'll be flying, etc, then buy a Pelican. If not, then buy a high quality drag bag. It will definitely meet your needs.

get a boyt 51" dbl gun case and spend less.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

I use a separate Pelican case with high density foam for every rifle I own. I also use them for going to and from the range because you never know when some ass hat might cause and accident and if my AX or any other goes out the window, I want it closed in a good case that can take a bounce or two. Like others have said, the weight may be an issue depending upon the rifle so you may want to stick with only one in each case.

Definitely if traveling a lot (flying, road trips) the Pelican is best bet. They are heavier but rock solid protection. I just use soft rifle cases to go to the range though.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

I use a storm 3300 I got on sale from midway and love it. With some careful arranging I fit my 26" barrel 700 w/stock pack etc along with an 18" barrl ar (with collapsible stock) in it. Its a tight fit but I was able to keep hardiggs recommended min 1" space between everything. I'd imagine two bolt guns would fit but haven't tried. I use it to and from the range manly for piece of mind, when your talking about a few grand in guns (that's on the low end for most people on here I bet) what's a couple hundred to be sure their safe.. when not in the safe?

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

Pelican cases are great for airplane trips. I have the iM3300. I also have a Cabelas 50th anniversary model that has a small shelf on the outside with straps to hold stuff and carry an ammo box or drag bag outside the case.

They're not cheap, but if you air travel, either of these cases will hold your rifles steady and offer great protection.

+1 on lighter cases for day range days.

Is this made by Pelican for Cabelas? I am interested in what it looks like, but no luck finding it on google. Could you post a pic or link when you have time Sir? Thanks

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

No, it's not a pelican. I don't know who manufacturers it for Cabelas. Pelican is a better product. I'll take out my cases and try to do some comparisons if you like.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

Oh okay....thats probably why I could not find it then. Thanks for the clarification. Pics of it would be nice. Its giving me some ideas from your description how I might modify some of mine.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

The small carrying shelf can carry another (nonPelican type) rifle in a plastic case; but it's not really meant for very heavy objects.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

The Cabelas one foam is nice and thick as is the Pelican's. But this model is pre-cut for you. Rifles with an AICS chassis stock fit nicely in them.

... p.s. I don't work for Cabelas, never have. I don't own their stock, or anything, just a customer.

Re: Which Pelican Rifle case is best for me

Thanks for the pics! That "shelf" is an interesting idea. I may just try and modify a case with either that or a spider mesh type of attachment for carrying extra stuff.
