Manners T4/T4A or T5/T5A

Trying to make a decision between the T4 or T5 stock. I must admit I do like the hold feel and all of a thumbhole but have not ever been behind a T5/T5A but am thinking it should be the same. Having said this I have access to a T4 or T4A now and a T5/T5A will be several weeks in the making.

Anyone shoot one or the other of these stocks and is the T5/T5A worth the wait? I guess I am getting antsy but do not want to make the mistake of wishing I had waited. Any advice would help.

I have a T2 and have used the T4 and T5 and also own and use a AICS.

I just ordered a T4 to go on a Savage 308 that I have, thought about the T5 but I really do like the feel of the T2's and 4's.
It really comes down to how important is the thumb hole to you and do you like shooting with one.

Hate to say it but the best thing to do is try finding someone local to you or find a match that's happening close to you and see if you can find one to get behind.

You really won't be disappointed either way. That or use the T4 and order the T5 and try them both out, Pick which works the best and sell the other.

Ive got the T4 on this rifle but my next Manners theyre making right now is the T2, getting the T2 because of the heel angle, it'll fit my DR bag better.

Tell you what, get a t5a with an mtu barrel channel for a 591 and if you don't like it I'll trade you my t4a for it

(just make sure to get the minichassis) lol

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was debating on going ahead and getting the t4/t4a then when the t5/t5a came out buy it as well and sell the other but I cant really justify buying two stocks like that. I see a lot of T4/T4A rings out there so I might have to just pull the trigger on a T$ style and just wait until I see someone with a T5 and get behind it to see if I like it better.

This stock will be going on a Savage 110 FCP HS in .338LM. I like the HS Stock but just want to go with a Manners.

Jordan - Who did the paint job on your stock?

That was the next thing I have been thinking about. A good cerakote to the barrel and action and a nice paint job (Either digital camo or something like that). I have also seen a few guys have a snake skin looking paint job that fades in and out but have not been able to find any place to do this.

I do like the looks of an AI as well never got behind one but I see them on a lot of long range rigs. I looked for a Savage 110 LA version for the stock but was unable to find one. Any idea if AI makes a stock for a savage action?

Tough question, stocks are often a personal decision; I have been behind a T4 and T4A, I like them, palm swell a bit bigger than a McM A5 and I feel more comfortable than behind a thumbhole stock. On the other hand, I shot few AICS and had great results with them too. Some say that in a tactical situation, you can get faster on target with a non thumbhole stock but some English snipers would argue that point, with results to back it up. Your best chance to make up your mind is to find someone with a T5/T5A willing to let you behind get their stock; if you know of anyone with such a stock is another question. In addition, adjustable cheek piece and adjustable length of pull will make a difference and you will feel at home with the stock adjusted to your measurements.
I did not really gave you a black or white answer but as I say, it is a tough question.

i got the T5 about a week ago, and LOVE the thumbhole, it feels great, only wish i had got the T5A version.

Just ordered a Manners T5 from Stockys. Will be here Feb 20th and I can't wait. I decided to pull the trigger on th T5 just because if it is anything like previous thumb holed guns I've shot I will like the feel and hold it provides. I wanted the T5A and stockys stated it could be another 4-8 weeks so I pulled the trigger on the non-adjustable stock. Oh well. I'd rather be shooting next week with the T5 then in 1-2 months.

Next questions:

What material to bed it with? Thinking Devcon. Any advice?

PS - I've never bedded a stock before but have read a lot of people like the Devcon.

Paint for the new stock- Who does nice digital camo work? Cerakote for barrel and action? And How much?

Also I have seen a few AI stocks on here that have the snake skin looking paint jobs where it fades in certain parts. What is that called and who does it?
