So I got a Savage 110 FCP HS Precision last month and put the ATACR on it. But here's my dilemma, first round chambered, click and no boom. Pulled the round (HSM 250 gr.) and it had an indent in the primer. Second round went off, but 3 in 15 failed and no grouping whatsoever (12 inch spread at 300 yards). Yes the scope is level and mounted correctly with blue loctite even on the rail. My thoughts are head space and timing causing the "fliers". Any thoughts?

Re: Savage .338 LM

I was reading the thread on the 110BA's that's on here, and the consensus was the spacing needed to be adjusted to get the accuracy, etc right on.

Re: Savage .338 LM

I have the 110 BA in .338, had some issues with accuracy until I removed the crush washer behind the brake.
Also replaced the factory brake with a QD flash hider for my YHM .338 Phantom.
The rifle went from 2.5" at 100 yd. to sub 1" at 200.

Re: Savage .338 LM

Thanks for the input. I was happy with the first fired round on paper. Thought it was going to be a cheap sight in then stretch it out for fun after. Oh well. I was all over the place at a 100 yards. Kina hard to screw up mil turrets, but it sure had me guessing.

It might be the space issue others have mentioned. Might have to tighten up the barrel nut. BTW I don't want to stray off topic, but how is the ATACR? I have had my eye on one since they announced it.

Re: Savage .338 LM

I like it so far. It is clearer than my other nightforces and the Burris I was shooting next to. I'll will be getting another one especially if they come out with a ffp. I was up in the air over the ATACR and the BEAST, but the ATACR came out first. You won't be disappointed.

So a definite improvement over the NXS in glass? That would be great because I love my NXS.

Re: Savage .338 LM

So NF has now two new bad ass scopes out on the market, the ATACR and the BEAST; so much for trying to cut on our "shooting expenses". It never ends...but it's all good.
Good shooting.
