I did a search and found a bunch of threads about brakes, but didn't get a solid answer. I have a aac-sd with a factory threaded muzzle. Who makes a brake that I can install myself without sending in to a smith? I have a pws prc on order but its been 2 months and im about ready to cancel my order.

There are a few out there, you just have to use a compression washer to time it correctly and it wont be tapered to the barrel.
Have a friend running a .308 version of this, and he likes it.

I'm in the same boat as you brother! Just got a e-mail from one our vendors here about an AAC brake you can do yourself but would require a spacer, I believe the spacers come with the brake. Let me know he says he has them in stock. PM !me if you need his info

The FTE would only work if the barrel diameter is correct for it to tighten down snug. This would still require a gunsmith to make that happen if the barrel is too large... if it is too small you are SOL on the FTE.

The PWS should be fine with the crush washers. Check PKfirearms, last I checked they have them in stock. The other option that is find a ScAR/PWS FSC take off with the lock nut. That is what I am running on my 5R.

Thanks. Just ordered one from PK. Theyre only 2 hours from me so It shouldn't take long to get here. I just need to call PWS Monday and cancel my order.

Rad brake it the way to go, a little emery cloth to get the timing right, tighten down the screw and blast away

I ordered a JP for mine and then I saw the FTE micro which I somehow missed. Either was right at $90 and will install with a crush washer. The PWS should work well, I hear nothing but good things about them.

I had similar reservations when I was in the market to get a brake for my savage 10FP. I didn't really want to go through the trouble of dealing with a gunsmith or the $$$ that goes with it, but after some looking I decided I would get one made to my liking. It was actually cheaper to have one custom made for my gun to my specs than to buy on with a name on it. There really wasn't much to the whole thing and remembering back it didn't take very long at all. He can time the brake to your gun and you wont have to worry about washers or clamping anything. Sounds like a commercial as I read this back, but I wouldn't be saying anything if I didn't think other people should check it out.

I have a Ross Schuler brake on mine.
I don't know if the RAD brake will butt up flush with the barrel.
When you take the thread protector off you will see a "step" between the end of the threads, will the RAD brake work with that? Might want to call/email and find out..
My barrel was .855 OD just behind the threads, I think the .860 or the .900 would be the one you want. May want to measure yours and see what it's closer too..

Jay50 is probably right on the size, I have one on my aac, and it butt's up pretty damn flush with the barrel, but like I said I can't remember exactly what size I have.
Edit: found my old post it is the .860 model, and the shoulder on the barrel threading is covered by the brake.
