I don't know how how I got on their mailing list, but here is the latest from the Giffords'

Dear Kirk -

I was the Congressman from Newtown, Connecticut when tragedy struck Sandy Hook Elementary School last December.

As long as I live, I'll never forget the scene at the firehouse when twenty-six families were notified they wouldn't be reunited with their children and loved ones.

The truth is, none of us will ever forget how we felt that day -- but the National Rifle Association leadership is hoping that you will.

Just last week, an NRA lobbyist said "gun rights" advocates would only have to wait until "the Connecticut Effect" subsided before they could lobby to pass more laws making it easier to obtain the kind of weapons used in Tucson, Aurora, and Newtown.

The Connecticut Effect...

One thing is for sure, the NRA leadership isn't going to let up after Congress considers legislation to reduce gun violence in our communities. They'll fight to erode any bill we debate, and immediately attempt to set back our progress before the ink is dry on the president's signature.

That's why I am so happy Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly created Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC -- an essential piece of infrastructure to counter the NRA.

Will you invest in the long-term future of their effort by making a recurring contribution of $5 or more today?

Gabby and I came to Congress together in the class of 2007.

She deserves a vote. Newtown deserves a vote.

Help make sure they get one.

Best,

Senator Chris Murphy
