Where do you buy most of your hunting and fishing equipment? I've been buying mostly from Cabelas they seem to have more of a selection. Whats your choice??

I have both within about 5 min. of where I live. I have found Cabelas to have a better selection but priced somewhat higher. I don't mind paying a bit more for something I need. I also try to give my business as much as I can to the small businesses in the area. Especially for archery or a gun purchase.
Cabela's. They are great if you need to return anything.
Cabela's. Excellent customer service if you have any problems.
They are both close to me. They both also have rewards programs. I usually check their sale ads and see which one I am shopping at that week.
Midwayusa since both cabelas & BP are overpriced on everything.
Both depending on who has the sale.
Bass Pro, because they are local.
No Contest... Cabelas has a much deeper selection of firearms (reloading) products. Hunting.. they feature a lot of WORKING quality gear, including everything for a working camp, including outfitter quality tents, cots, bags. (Bass Pro tends to have more Lil' Princess Kids and family style gear.) Though I'm also into fishing, Cabelas is geared more to Great Lakes (downriggers) and walleye fishing, which I enjoy. Bass Pro features a LOT of clothing that is house brand, and always out of date. But still plenty to choose from at Cabelas in name brand (so 'ya don't look like a Bass Pro "Dandy").
Overall, I think Cabelas is much superior in Hunting and Shooting Sports, and they back up their products!

When I lived close to Cabelas I shopped there. Now that I live close to Bass Pro I shop there. The online selection is MUCH better at Cabelas, however, I would rate the stores as neck and neck. The Bass pro here has more fishing gear but the closest Cabelas has more camping gear. My experience has been that neither is substantially more over priced than the other. I think that Cabelas brand gear is higher quality that RedHead (BassPro house brand). When I visit Austin, a stop in the Buda store is mandatory. When I lived in Austin the same was not true about visiting Houston and Bass Pro. As I'm not a fisherman I would gladly trade both Bass Pros here in Houston for the one Cabelas in Buda, Tx. But, between BassPro and local shops I don't need to shop on line for much. Being able to hold something, try it on, and take it home that day is worth a small premium to me.
Another Cabelas vote, can't beat there selection. If you catch thre stuff on sale, it's not bad price wise. There brand clothing is much better quality than Bass Pro's IMHO, I've tried both. There getting ready to open a new Cabelas in Louisville next month or so, I can't wait.
I've always felt like cabelas is more geared toward hunting and shooting, where bass pro has a lot of emphasis on fishing and boats.

I run all my work expenses through a credit card. It was a Bass Pro branded Bank of UnAmerica visa until BoA started closing firearm related accounts. I called Bass Pro and voiced my concerns with Bass Pro being in business with BoA. They didn't care. Closed my account, no more money to Bass Pro.
Cabela's visa card is through Cabela's own bank, "World's Foremost bank."

I forgot to mention that I went into bass pro last week to find a e-collar for training our new pup. Unfortunately, there wasnt a single employee working the floor with keys to access the case for the collars, nor could any of them get the keys. I must have talked to 6 employees standing around that were utterly useless. The only people with the appropriate keys worked behind the gun counter so I had to take a number at the gun counter and wait. I browsed the hunting section for about an hour before I ran out of stuff to look at, got fed up and left.
All that for a dog collar that I found for cheaper on cabelas online and had in in 3 days with free shipping. No brainier

Cabelas. The last Bass Pro I was in didn't impress me that much. But I think Bass Pro is actually better for fishing only. Seems to be geared more towards that than Cabelas.
I think Cabelas is more about all sporting aspects where Bass pro has more novelty items hunting and fishing related.
For more commodity products (powder/bullets/primers etc), neither. Much cheaper options.
For gear I go almost exclusively Cabelas. We don't have a BassPro here and I have never been impressed with their selection...though I have a $40 Redhead tent that was one of th ebest values I ever bought. We have GanderMountain here and they absolutely stink. They don't even carry reloading supplies much anymore!
Cabelas brick-and-mortar stores have gotten pretty bad in keeping in stock, and I have been to a large number of them. I just do online sales with them. I've had a Cabelas Black Visa for many years. We run as much of our expenses as possible through the card; 80% of my purchases are free using points off the card.

for me, Cabelas is closest. They USUALLY have the stuff i need, but alittle higher. The LGS/reloading store is further, most of the time have stuff and is sometimes cheaper.
Online Cabelas can't be beat. I go to both and see what the prices are.
Bass pro, because the Cabelas isnt built yet. This summer the local one will be about 15 min away, not good for my bank account. Then again I get most of my stuff from Sportsmans, because they have a military discount.
We have both in my area but I always go to Sportsmans Warehouse. Prior to things getting crazy mine had a far better reloading section than Cabelas and bass pro. Prices seem to be lower too.
hate both. i like gander mountain.
got a 1000 dollar gift certificate from bass pro for buying a boat so i stocked up on crank baits from them other than that it is usally cabelas as a last resort
Cabelas - their customer service is great and their cabelas club discounts are tough to beat.
scheels has all kind of scheels brand gear from scopes to fishing rods to some clothing
Cabelas, they have higher quality in house gear. They are high on a lot of there prices though.
It's something I never notice then. What's the name of the store brand? I've been in the store twice.

Bass Pro because it's 5 minutes away. Academy if I'm buying larger quantities or don't want to be bent over.

They both suck but if I had a gun to my head then Cabelas it is... Just make sure you know what you want because their employees are mannequins and good for nothing. Don't get me wrong, there are a few that save the day but overall they blow.
I've been to Scheels a couple times when driving through Montana. My impression was it was better than all of the above...but we don't have them out east.
I've always thought of BP as a fishing store that happens to carry some hunting/shooting gear, and Cabela's as a hunting/shooting store that happens to carry some fishing gear. That being said, I haven't had great service at the BP's in my area so I stick to Cabela's.

Cabelas all the way, but if I had a Scheels close by I would go there also.
Cabelas. Their store brand stuff usually is better than the name brands they carry. Their bargain cave is the first stop and if you are on the fence about product A vs produce B the folks at the order desk can give you better information about which brand than anywhere I have ever shopped.
depends on what I am there for. I honestly hate purchasing a firearm from the large outdoor sporting goods places. My last straw with that was when I was looking for a pistol for the wife. I had went to 3 different places and all the people behind the counter treated us like we were not even there. I finally said f it and went to a local gun shop to buy the pistol. clothing I like to go to Bass pro waiting on cabelas to make it to CO.. they should be here by summer though in lonetree from what i understand!

Cabelas for hunting/shooting. Bas Pro for fishing. It seems the prices at Cabelas are consistently lower.
