USO is thinking about pulling the plug on the SR8M(dot w/lit reticle) unless we can come up with a reason to keep it in production. So what are your thoughts? What real life scenarios can you come up where you'll need both. The cost to have a lit reticle on top of your red dot is $150($2650) more if that matters. So let's hear them...

Thanks

I spoke for one of them via PM but have yet to send payment and for that I apologize. Expect a text from me in the next 24 hours to get the total and your address again. I have been having Pm issues after the site revamping. In regards to the SR8M, at that price,I want a do it all optic, and this fits the bill. It will be used hunting with the illuminated reticule during low light/no light conditions both with and without night vision. The true 1x and dot will make it an outstanding 3 gun optic and also perfectly suited to defense, while the 8x will offer plenty of magnification to stretch the range of the 5.56 round I will be shooting. I can't imagine a more versatile optics system for carbines in both 5.56 and 7.62.

Because it fills a void in my life caused by my meager physical attributes.

The one I ordered in January will be going on a LMT MWS CQB. I was looking at getting an Acog TA31ECOS to have something with both rapid acquisition and "precision" capabilities. The cost of the ACOG/RMR combo is about $1800 and it comes with the issues of short eye relief and the high mount RMR may cause cause the shooter to break cheek weld.

I saw the 1-8X as an improvement worth the extra money because I will have the close in capability, lose the ergonomics issues that may or may not be present in the ACOG and I gain magnification.

Reality for me is that I will be shooting my rifle off a bench or on my belly at a target with a black bull on KD ranges. If I want to play I can dial down to 1X to move and shoot hoping to hit 12X18 area targets. If Im on the bench I get a usable reticle for precision. Should I start losing my cross hairs in the black bull. Ill dial on my blue light for a fighting chance at the X.

With S&B unable to come to market and USO's ability to promote the advantages over an ACOG or ELCAN I think USO will have a winner if they market it right. Its a tough economy right now and the glass has a big price but the added cost over alternatives is not that much more and you will be gaining for money spent in my opinion.

So when will my scope be done have they sent it out for paint yet? If I was an evil prick I would tell them not to market it and that will make mine something really special.

I am assuming that their concerns are just based on cost of manufacturing and projected sales. It has to be a biatch getting the dot and the reticle to work in synch than you go add illum - yeah sounds fun. If they are concerned with durability thats a different story and would be concerning to me.

I find no references to an "SR8M" on their web site.

Perhaps they'd sell more of them if they actually made the public aware that it exists.

I sort of thought that the red dot @1X and the ability to use illuminated reticle at a higher power was the purpose of the exercise. If it doesn't have a red dot, I'll just keep my SN-4s that have the JNG reticle.

If not, the MK8 with the Horus or the S&B Short Dot might be the way I go.

It would be the go to scope for combat/3 gun, .223 or .308.

I'd hate to see the option go away.

I know that they were also planning, in the future, an EREK version of this optic. If you want the optic to be more useful at reasonable ranges in low light you do need the full scale illumination. My opinion is that they should offer the full scale illumination in the EREK model only because it will be the model configured for long range use. Most of the models are close quarters optics stretched to make them do long range work. The EREK model will be a long range optic stretched to do close quarters. As such, it should not sacrifice full scale illumination for long range, low light use.

Agreed about the EREK.

Because most of my shooting will be static it would be nice if I could dial.

I'll take it (and did) in its current config as it seems it will be useful as hell and I will have to learn to hold which aint a bad thing.

The end point is this scope should be made because this is America and we want our shit to be really cool. If USO wants to do what everyone else is doing and doesnt take pleasure in doing what Schmidt and Bender apparently cant than what differentiates them from the others?

Is this going to affect current standing orders? I think both red dot lit and reticle lit can be useful. Lets say you want to do some tactical close up shooting then you illum the dot. Later in the day you still want to do some longer shots but have fading light so you illum the reticle and holdover corrections better.

SR8 m-version

We have not canceled the M option, it had been put on hold so that we could focus our efforts on getting product in customers hands.

I will update this thread when I have a set time frame for the M version.

Thanks

Dave

Just called Becky and it looks like we're gtg on keeping the "M" option :) . I also placed another order for 40 more so I'll have them soon with no wait for you :). Thanks a bunch!

I want both. They are both useful in varying lighting conditions. When will we expect to get them lazy? I put a deposit on one.

Get me my painted one first.

I'll post a photo and can almost guarantee an additional 5 sales just from the tacticool look of the FDE scope on the LMT CQB. It will look so nice that you could probably build it without internals and the panic buyers will still be satisfied.

Will it lose any value if I decide to shoot this scope/rifle combination? How can I avoid ring marks?

This is good news. I sold two SN-3s' to finance this and a GDI mount.

Good job, Lazy.
