Member Link Up Kentucky/ park mammoth shooting

I could use some good learning from some fellow shooters/ hide members. I have been the park mammoth a couple of times but I am always by myself. the last time I was there they didn't have any long range targets set up and still just had a field as a staging area. Anyone know if they have changed anything around?

I went to a few of those shoots, and had a good time, and I was not one of the good shots, but I am local and joined Rock Castle/Park Mammoth. I haven't heard of any new shoots for awhile. I did not like some of the fees I was running into and scheduling issues I had with Rock Castle to get on the big range. I have family in the area and found my own 1000 yrd range/farm out on 31 E near the Hart/Barren Co line. Myself and 4 or 5 family members go every few weeks or so. If you guys want to come out, the more the merrier. I have a few steel targets, nothing fancy, and please use common sense ( no drugs, no booze, act human ). Looking at the 9th if the weather is decent.

I don't mind folks showing up on this private farm for a shoot like we used to do. I have no axe to grind against RockCastle, might even want to do one of their competitions someday. Just want ya'll to know my family shoots have nothing to do with them. Don't want any hurt feelings or confused folks. Like I said earlier I'm looking at the 9th as far as weather goes. I rather not set everything up in a hurricane or snow storm and be the only fool out there. I will watch this list, and send directions to anybody that asks. As long as we don't take over 40 folks out, we will be cool.

We may not be up to your skill level yet, but we have the yardage and room for more shooters. You are more than welcome to join. In fact, we need some more skilled shooters to join so we can steal ideas and get better. I'll send you the info in private msg.

I'm no expert by any means. We just shot our 1st match 2 weeks ago. My son is 14 but a good shot. Did pretty good for 1st time out. Most we had done prior was 800 yards. Just like to shoot.

I will see if we can make this. If not this time, certainly another time this year. I have been looking for a place to shoot 1,000 without being a member of Rock Castle.

A couple of folks have asked for an update, so here it is. Yes, everything is a "Go" for Saturday at 11 am til we get tired or it gets dark. It looks like will be about 8 to 10 of us, not bad for a first gathering. No money is needed to join, just may want to throw $5 in on the fee for the farm for the Vietnam Vet that owns the place. Bring extra steel if you have room for it. Weather is looking great. If you wish to help me set up, be there after 9 am. And if you have been watching this thread and now want to come, send me a private msg, and I will send you directions to the farm, we still have tons of room.

Well, it makes me sick to inform everybody that the shoot for this weekend has just been canceled. The land owner has decided its too muddy out in the field and he does not want it rutted up for planting season here in the next month or so. I wish I had been informed of this earlier, I've had the rug pulled out from under my feet on this. I guess this is why most people don't try and organize any gatherings on here. I will see if we can reschedule anytime soon. I am very sorry this had to happen.

Guys we can still shoot tomorrow!!! Called RockCastle and got them to let us shoot from 2pm til dusk!!!

It's $25 per person, we bring our own steel and we can use trucks and four wheelers to set up and take down our own Targets!!!

Who's all in for tomorrow!?!?

WOOOHOO!!! Gonna be my first time ever past 780 yards!!! I'm pumped!!! Hope all u guys can make it!!!

Im in!!! Off to get my 4 wheeler for steel. After as disappointed as I was, this has made my weekend. Sent out a message to the list. Hope this drama hasn't scared anybody off from shooting. We're being Americans here and rolling with the punches and getting creative.

Hello,

I'd be interested in doing some long range shooting. I've only been in KY (Lexington) for a few months, and have yet to make to Rock Castle.

Any idea when the next meet will be?
