Hell
Started life as a DPMS LR 260 now supports a 22" Bartlein barrel 8.5 twist, JP Extended handguard, PRI adjustable brake, Custom brake, Jp Trigger, UBR Stock and carbine buffer. Soon will support a Bushnell HDMR G2 with ADM mount im sure. Will run Amax 123's thru it. I was going to run 6.5 but really didnt want to be stuck to one manufacture of brass and there are so many other comps. that make 260 brass and I can use lots of other brass out there. Let me know what u think or ideas that my help with the build. Also thinking about a rattle can job :/

Great looking build. That is going to be a ton of fun for you. I'm looking forward to some range reports. I think you'll like that optic also.

In November I am soooo glad I bought a DPMS LR 260. For one thing, you could not find one now. For another, the rifle just loves slapping steel at distance. Popping a 5" steel at 500 yards over and over is no issue. Shoots well past that also. I'm just waiting for the weather to ease up a little, and we can get our 1200 range going. The rifle came with a 24" stainless bull barrel. I was going to get an aftermarket barrel for it, but with these results, I may hold off on that. I did install a Rock River 2 stage match trigger like I have in my other AR's. That way, I'm used to the pull.

Thanks! Ya sounds like yours is running great im sure 24" barrel your getting great velocity but I had to settle for as small as I could get. At the moment ive only test fired the rife to make sure gas block was tuned and gas hole was big enough and she was a blast for the couple of rounds. Ya im ready to mount that Bushnell gdmr my wallet isnt at the moment but im thinking ill have it finished late march. All I need to do now is to find a load. I already posted in the reloading section but from research sounds like I may know a load but now I gotta track down some powder :/ Any help or preferred loads may help me out!

Brian's a great guy, really good smith. he's taught me alot over the years. I've got him building a 6.5 creedmoor for me right now. Be sure and post some pics of a range report when you get it finished up!

BTW that's a good looking rifle!

ya your building a bolt arnt ya I think I remember him talking about some of the projects on his plate? I am actually thinking about taking the class and getting thru gunsmithing 4 or im just going to take his 1911 course in Oct. Ya Bryan is a Great guy couldn't be happier super nice to talk to and work with pretty fast on most projects.

Yup lefty on a tac 30 action. The hold up will be waiting on the stock. I wish i still lived in Albion so I could take some of his gunsmithing classes. I've learned a lot just by being out at the shop and watching him work. He's always willing to answer questions. I'm already planning on what to have him do next..... It's terrible having a gunsmith on speed dial!

I hear ya! ;) Ya one of the few smiths that actually let you watch turn barrel down and work on your rifle pretty cool guy!

That rifle looks like a shooter,i have been looking for a good smith in illinois thats pretty close. Does he have a webpage or does he just do work for friends. I have another upper i want built in 243 for my dpms lower. I have the upper, waiting on a jp bolt,jp handguard and have to decide on a barrel and gas block.

no website. best just to call him. I know he's busy with teaching school and kind of trying to limit the types of work he brings in. But Id just give him a call and see what he can do for ya.

Nice rifle, looking at getting a JP in either 260 or 308. Hello from a fellow southern IL (Washington Countly) native. Currently overseas now so all I get to do is look at rifles and if purchase they go to my fathers.

Thanks for the complements guys! Ya you cant go wrong with JP. I was between a Gap-10 in 260 and a JP LR-07 in 260 but the wait and $ killed me so I did this and im super happy with what I did only thing I wish I had was the side charger on the JP. m198gunner Thanks for your service! and nice to see shooters from this area!

Paulyr450 Bryan is good to call in the evenings and if you cant reach him when you call leave a message and he will call you back. He wont do your gran daddys old shotgun repair but sights, barrel work, trigger work and about anything custom he will give him a call super nice guy!

Bryan is in pretty good with The owner of WOA so he can usually get blanks from them and parts for AR builds like you 243 you want Paulyr450

Good to hear others are on the 260 AR bandwagon. Mines a Mega MATEN with a Lilja 20" barrel. Just sweet. Working on loads for it now with the 123 Amax and 142 SMK. Bought a bunch of new R&P and Lapua brass. I joined a 1K range and hope to get out there soon. I have only had 350 available and the 260 makes it boring.

Thanks for the response nutter. My jp bolt and handguard are about 2 months out but its better than paying what everyone else is on gunbroker. Just like you said,ga precision and jp make bad ass rifles but the wait just sucks. I have shot under an inch groups with my dpms lr260 with handloads and cant really complain. It has a prs, geissele sde, with a vortex viper pst and shoots good enough for my needs. When i get my parts i will give him a call and hopefully with those parts i will have a decent upper. M198. Thanks for your service.

Id like to have done a mega but got a killer deal on a DPMS 260 LR for 900$ so that made my choice for me ;)

Let me know how your 123Amax load turns out and Id like to know what velocity out of a 20" barrel your getting...Danco411 Post it up like to see it

Get some 142 SMk's from Southwest Ammo. Today we were slapping an 8" steel at 860. Let me be clear, I am not a shooter. I have really good sandbags. Good equipment, good ammo.

That makes me "Happy Happy Happy" ;) to hear that...Im itching to get out and hammer some steel!
