observations: rifle is a good size and weight. Has a nice heavy bull barrel, .9 at the muzzle according to my tape, appears to be straight with no taper. Barrel does not free float in the stock by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, if you bump the stock, you hear and feel a vibration, which is the barrel contacting the stock. But, it's heavy. Definitely heavier contour than my Savage Mark II HB. I'm not gonna knock it til I've tried it, but I think it could definitely benefit from pillars and bedding.

trigger is shite. guess it's time to order a yo dave.

test target looks pretty dang good.

high quality stuff this CZ. nothing fancy, but good fit/finish, more substantial than a Savage.

what base/rings do ya'll think I should put on it? It's starting off with a 3-9x32 Clearidge, and I want it mounted low as possible.

Actually from personal experiance there are some rimfires out there which shoot better not free floated (my CZ452 comes to mind) I'd try it as-is before playing with bedding...

Nice looking rifle though. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you drop on it?

no worries fellas, I definitely don't tinker with anything until I've tried 'em just like they came from the factory. I am not the type to create unnecessary work for myself. Come to think of it, my other two .22's (aforementioned Savage and a Rem 504-T) are not anywhere near free floated either, and both of those have been outstanding shooters right out of the box.

price on this one was $460 shipped. a damn sight better than the precision trainer with the Manners ... then again, the Manners is a damn sight better than this stock. however ... the tacticool is actually not a bad stock at all. seems to fit me very well.

That thing looks to be a hell of a value for $460. Absolutely check out the Yo Dave. About the best $18 and an hour of tinkering I've spent in this god-forsaken money suck of a hobby ;)
Also, I am quite happy with the 25 MOA DIP rail...fit like a glove with zero issues. I ended up putting the SWFA 30mm rings on there, as they seemed to be a good compromise between price and beefiness and the low recoil reality of a .22LR. No issues thus far with them either.

your tester looks a darn site better than the one I got with my 455pt on Monday.
50y Ammo tests looked promising.
Midas+ was best out of CenterX,wolf MT and ME. It seems the barrel is liking a bit of fouling and I really want to test the wolf and centerX some more.
Bipod and bag
Swirling gusts from 1-15mph
Top left-my cold bore hits high, 4 more under it.
Diamond top-almost, poor bag setup wrecked this 5 shots
mid-my friends 10/22 sight ins
low-(and bottom two) I let the wind bully me around a bit

16 rounds of fgmm in the shootNc. Some poor wind calls for sure, but the 11 or 12 went through the center hole. And my best for the day, not my greatest, but it was my cleanest 5 shots that day(my friends sight ins left this bull fair game)

Shooter errors aside, this looks to be a pretty accurate rifle.
If it proves to have an appetite for spendy ammo, I may consider a new barrel, just for giggles

I'm off to google the yo dave:D

You guys should also look at the ACE Hardware #144 spring. I installed one on my CZ and now have an amazing 2lb trigger! I guess the YoDave does have lower settings but I like $0.75 compared to $20.

only issue I see with changing the spring only is that it doesn't change the sear engagement. yodave includes shims and springs so you can tinker with getting the creep down.

right now the thing is just inconsistent. some trigger pulls have creep, others don't. too much sear engagement ...

komishe, I'd be real pleased with those results, especially with the wind blowing like that.
