To the top, wherever that is, gonna take a while to figger out the new board, but all good.

Can't say I'm too big a fan of the new format here,... but ask me in a month and I'd probably never wanna look back,...

Yeah, I am not digging the new site so far, but as I am not paying for it, I guess I don't really care all that much... Still, the old functionality seemed to be better.

Thats how I felt bout an hour ago but I'm loving the new site. They still have a lot of shit to work out and get rolling but I believe this will be a better functioning website in the end.

X2.

On another note, My dad just picked up a Sig556 Classic yesterday for a decent price and would like to flip it and try to make some money. $1300 for SHWW members (he paid not a lot less than that for it). This is a private sale for local guys. Gun has been shot and used but is in flawless mechanical condition. Comes with the Sig red-dot sight which seems accurate and functional + 1 30 round mag. Haven't taken it to the range yet but I completely disassembled it and oiled her up and the action is glassy smooth. Also adjusted the trigger a bit and it's actually quite fun to shoot. I'll see if I can dig up a picture...

Here is the email response I got from Rick Larsen...

Dear Mr. Osburn:

Thank you for contacting me about steps we can take to prevent gun violence and make our communities safer. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Within the halls of Congress my colleagues and I are taking part in an important debate on the most effective manner of protecting the American people from gun violence. From the attack on Congresswoman Giffords that left six dead to the shootings in Colorado, Wisconsin, Oregon and Connecticut, it is too painfully clear that we must take meaningful action to make our communities safer. The 2008 Skagit County mass shootings that killed six brought this type of tragedy to our home. No single law can prevent the actions of a madman, but that is no excuse to not take action.

I continue to hold my position that Congress should reinstate the assault weapons ban and ban high-capacity ammunition clips above 10 rounds per clip. These military-grade weapons serve no legitimate purpose in civilian life and as such, I have cosponsored legislation that aims to remove these unnecessary weapons from our streets.

We must close the gun show and private sale loopholes and strengthen background check requirements to make sure criminals and the mentally ill are unable to purchase guns. I am proud to have joined my colleague, Rep. Caroline McCarthy of New York, in sponsoring legislation that would provide for universal background checks to any individual wishing to buy, sell, or transfer a gun. Similarly, I support legislation that strengthens our ability to track the illegal flow of guns that too often fall through the cracks. This is not a matter of tracking gun ownership for those individuals who legally have the right to possess firearms, but is about identifying illegal activity that threatens our collective safety.

Legislation on gun safety is part, but not all of the solution. Mental illness has been shown to be a factor in some of these mass shootings. Mental illnesses are often misunderstood and under-diagnosed. Health providers need to give mental health the same attention that physical health is given. Congress should direct more research into mental illness and provide more funding for effective care of mentally ill patients. The Mental Health First Act, which I am a cosponsor of, seeks to address the shortfalls that exist in mental health training.

We have not seen the last of violent crimes in our country, but if Congress and the President act, we can make our communities safer and shrink this cycle of violence.

If you are interested in receiving periodic updates about my work in Congress, please sign up for my newsletter by clicking here. I also invite you to follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Sincerely,

Rick Larsen

So it would appear that practical rifle, and three gun matches are NOT legitimate uses of high capacity magazines. If we were to use ten round magazines, the anti's would then find some other reason to further "disarm" people. They ought to man up and admit that disarming everyone is their objective. But I am preaching to the choir.

We're staying at the Clover Island Inn, not too bad and cheap. That might be because I'm doing my own tech support on their shitty wifi. We were going to tow the tent trailer and stay onsite, but she's too sick to RO and unwilling to stay home: so we have a nice warm hotel room. I'm not feeling so good myself but I'm committed to ROing for Jake. If anybody needs a ride out in the morning, I've got room. five o nein sick sick sex too nein sex nein

Jubilee Youth Ranch Match

For those of you who missed it, you missed out!!! It was an excellent match. A couple miles of hiking all day, and shots from 220 to 1100+ yards. (I think Jesse is still waiting for his .308 bullet to get there.) Positional, doghouse, running back and forth, spinner, doghouse, mover, and the helo. Airborne stage was not for the fainthearted; just after takeoff the pilot cleared a ridge and then let 'er drop over 100 feet and turned hard left. After your stomach was up behind your teeth, it was time to start shooting.
This was Jake's first match, and a fundraiser for Jubilee Youth Ranch. The match went off very well, the kids cooked us a great dinner Saturday and Sunday night as well as breakfast Sunday morning. Jake brought us hamburgers on Saturday and snacks on Sunday.
Weather cooperated, for February. Mid 40s mostly, and a wind that went from near calm to 15mph or more. A lot of people missed the wind, but when shooting across a canyon it's hard to judge. I froze my butt off.
Match was won by Travis Redell, and Jesse took First Place .308, even got a little plaque he'll probably hide out of shame.

For Jakes first match, I'd rate it a solid 10 out of 10, and I'll be there next year.

I echo what Mike had to say, congrats to all who placed well. A great match, well run and for a great cause. Challenging shooting conditions, challenging stages. It was great to see some new faces and all that travelled far, a safe trip home.

Important Update...

Dear Sportsmen,

Announced just this morning -
SB 5831 regarding DOUBLE TAXATION on clay targets will be heard in the Senate Ways and Means Committee Tuesday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m., Senate Hearing Room 4 in the John A Cherberg Building on the capital campus. Your attendance is highly advisable if possible.

This hearing is the opportunity to give testimony to senators on that committee, explaining in open hearing what’s going on with this double taxation and your reasons to support SB 5831. Or to just show up, registering your support for those making the case. Filled seats in the hearing room speaks volumes.

In the meantime, it’s still important to contact Senators on the Ways and Means Committee, explaining your views, especially regarding the misnomer in the bill description that it’s simply about a tax exemption. The DOUBLE TAX aspect needs to be firmly understood because by reading the bill description it sounds as if you’re simply asking not to be taxed at all.

In any case, we can be thankful that SB 5831 has cleared the hurdle of getting a hearing. It will be heard. More power to you as you continue the case for SB 5831.

Charlie Kirry
Aide to Senator Pam Roach

I really don't like where Washington is headed. I've lived here all my life but if these new bills actually make it thru I'll be moving not only my home but my business too.

That above bill is actually a good thing. They are currently double taxing clay targets and that bill is intended to stop it.

JC Steel Challenge

AWESOME SPONSORS and OUTSTANDING SHOOT!!!![

A sincere and heartfelt thanks to Jake Vibby and crew for a truly outstanding shoot, and to the all sponsors who contributed to an unbelievable prize table.

For a first time jump into the match director's chair Jake, the results were fantastic. Things flowed pretty damn smoothly from stage to stage, the targets held up, and the challenging course of fire and wind again confirmed how many things I still have to work on! (Although I'm not sure how much more shit I can stuff into the gunslinger pack-Are pack mules allowed)?

Thanks to all the RO's who donated their time to help, and froze their asses off in the process. You didn't have the luxury of hiking the loop to keep the blood circulating and had to sit in 10-20 mph winds and cool temps for most of both days.

Thanks to the helicopter pilot, who put our stomachs in our throats shortly after takeoff, and to the gentleman who briefed us and tied us into the ship so we didn't skydive out of the helicopter.

To the old friends I reaquainted with, and the new friends I met this weekend, it was great to see you/meet you, and I look forward to our next shoot together! My ass was dragging when I got back home, but the weekend was very enjoyable!

Jake put my name on the entry list for next year;)

Hey All -

In case you missed it while you were traveling to or from Jake's match, I have a Findlay slot avalable if anyone wants to shoot... PM me if you are interested.

Congratulations and thanks to all of the Shooters, RO's, Sponsors, Helo Crew, and Jake. I was impressed with how smoothly the match went! I had a blast even though i wasn't competing, although i got a few shots off (Thanks Charles). Thanks again to the sponsors for the prizes, this RO got a piece of the pie too! 7 Rogue here i come!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Findlay Cup!

I don't think I got warm til I got home Sunday night and crawled under the 'lectric blanket. It was a pleasure working for a good cause, and watching all of you shoot.

Great to see all my shooting friends at JC Challenge :) , the match was great - saw some amazing shooting in high winds on moa targets. Wish i was able to meet and greet more of the shooters - but i had 1 eye in the glass 90% of the time. Thanks to all those that helped score my stage. :) thank God it didn't rain :) the trails would be horrible and any miss would be like shooting into pudding and no impact would be seen. ! i need a better RO chair - time to get to Cabelas

I should have a spare room for someone for the Findley Cup - ( Cashmere ) - just pm me

Your a stud Pearl, can you email those to me by chance?? I am having a hard time opening them. if you have a place to put a pepper popper up let me know!

Nice video, thanks for taking the time to put it together. I like the footage from inside the heli and the dual-camera view perspective you used on the last stage.

Great Footage Eric!

Nice Job on the footage, Eric! Like Pearl mentioned, the heli-footage and the picture-in-picture stuff was great! I thought I saw Ron mumbling a couple cuss-words in the close-up, but I'm not sure :) I KNOW I saw Chris and Mike cussing under their breath,... just kidding, guys! Wish I could have gone, that would have been the group I would have wanted to be in,... maybe next year.

Great video! That will surely bring more people into the sport. Outstanding!

Just a reminder... for those of you who expressed interest in shooting 'F-Tactical'... we are having a Fullbore Prone/F-class match next weekend @ NCWGC in East Wenatchee starting @ 0900. 51rds (I'd bring 55 just in case) minimum for the COF, which is 2 convertible sighters plus 15 record shots at 300, 500 & 600yds (i.e. 17 shots at each yardage). Plan on shooting 'pair-fire', which is where two shooters alternate on the same target, instead of 'string fire' which is what you typically see at other HP matches.

Brakes, suppressors, etc. welcome in the 'Tactical' class. No ski bipods. You can single-load or feed from the magazine, your choice, but if checked your ammo must *fit* in your magazine. Figure on registration around 0830, with shooting starting around 0900. $20 entry fee per shooter, juniors 1/2 of adult fee. If we have enough people (i.e. =< 5) in Tactical class, there will be money awards. If there are enough people shooting .223/.308 vs. everything else, we may be able to break it down further. NRA rules don't officially cover such a class, so it will be determined primarily based on turnout.

If you do plan on showing, please email, pm or call me sometime this week so I have some idea who/ how many to plan for.

There is a similar match scheduled for April 21st (Sunday) for those wanting more time to plan.

If anyone sees JD from High Speed Shooting Systems, please let him know that he has a PM for another rifle build. Thanks!

JD is on vacation right now. I don't know how often he's checking PMs while he's gone.

Thank Eric and Pearl for posting the video and pictures. That ws a very fun and challenging match. Can't wait till next year.

We were setting up for our upcoming precision rifle match and needed to go through the paces.
With winds gusting from 8-25mph Alan and Monte tried to get on steel out to 1340 yards.
Alan was the only one that could ring the 1340 target.
Monte was shooting his 6.5 Creedmore with 123 MK's and Alan was shooting his Rbros built 260 Rem with 142 MK's.
I'll make it over in the next day or two and hit it with my Rbros built 6.5X47Lapua with 130 Berger's.
Here Joe is trying a 308 at a 650 yard target, with the 1340 off in the distance.

Yep... very frustrating day, though still fun as heck. Pretty sure my load was subsonic by that 1340 target, as it was kind of randomly spraying the hill side (even with the help from the wind)... probably didn't help that I ran out of elevation and had to hold over w/ the reticle either. Turned the windage knob the wrong way on the closest target... all sorts of fun. Definitely needed that little change-up from my comfort zone.
