My buddy just picked up a beautiful Ed Brown Marine Sniper in 308 (of course). Smooth action, beautiful looking and a really crisp trigger. He has a Nightforce to put on it and is going to shoot it tomorrow. Wondering if anyone has one and what you think about it. I have handled a Tactical (A3) and liked it a lot but have not shot one. The Marine Sniper is a sexy rifle. Also, he is thinking about threading the barrel for a can. I told him to do it but he is concerned about resale value or potential collector value. Thoughts?

Will update tomorrow with range report

I would say if you like lower muzzle velocity, higher felt recoil, and wish to save money on the tax of a can leave it as is. Why worry about resale after spending that much on a rifle? Keep it in the family and go with the can is my opinion. Just make sure it is done by a well known gun smith and I'll bet you will have no problem with resale if it ever came down to having to selling.

Mikey pasta, just signed up, thanks for starting the thread, can't wait to shoot it in the am, will post results

My suppressed rifle shoots .5 mils higher (read: flatter) at 100 yards. Tighter groups. Less recoil. Quieter.

You guys are pressuring me into a suppressor ...

Rifle shot really well. Roofman has a keeper!

I have that EB Model and it is a tack driver. There is no reason not to thread the barrel. If he wishes to sell it in the future and is concerned he can send it back to EB and have it rebarreled. EB has stopped building rifles but still works on them and Shilen still makes barrels. There's really no downside other than the cost to have it threaded. Have the smith make a matching end cap and you're good to go!

And tell us what you thought it did?

Whenever I have shot with a suppressor, I always had to come up a little. I guess that is due to the weight hanging on the end of the barrel. I figured the velocity was the same, but you learn something every day. How much velocity increase are you getting?

About 10-20 fps with the surefire. Every once in a while we will see a 50 fps jump but not in every gun. Guns are the M40A5.
