I have full length as well
I started with a full length SRS as the covert was not in production at that time. I ended up buying the covert handguard when it came available and I've not regretted it at all. I have 2 26" barrels that I use in the rifle, a .338 LM and a 6.5X47. They look a little odd to me with the short handguard but no one else seems to think it looks bad. I also have a .338 BR 17" barrel and a 22" 12.7 X 48 (510 whisper equivalent) barrel and they work and look great with the short handguard. I've had no balance issues with the bipod location despiting hanging my heavy .338 Lapua mag suppressor on the front of that 26" barrel. The only possible problem I can see with the short handguard is for someone who wants to mount either thermal or night vision add-on sights to their existing scope. Even then it is possible to get rail extensions for them and since I'm unlikely to need one of those sights I'm fine with the shorty. I hadn't thought about selling my long handguard as I figured if I ever sold the rifle I'd have both to sell it with. Never know what buyers will want down the line.

SRS A-1 ordered! 8 weeks out! Starting with a 6.5 x 47 lapua. Who manufactures 3/4-24 threaded suppresors other than DTA? Everything I'm finding is either QD or 5/8-24. Thanks.
Might check out shark suppressors, you can get any size end cap, I have 3/4 5/8 and 1/2. Some others can chime in here but I think there are some type of reducers for different threads, not sure what it would do to accuracy. My shark is awesome!

I'm planning to run an SAS Arbiter Ti using their T.O.M.B mount. It's a thread on can that mounts on a brake. Mile High is the retailer for them and they have the brakes in various thread pitches.
Check out Thunderbeast suppressors. Top notch can with any thread pitch you want
so, USO 3.2-17with 88 MOA of travel. I most likely will never shoot 338 Lapua as I live in florida, but will go ahead and give myself enough MOA in a set-up just in case. I ran some numbers for 300gr SMK and it projected I would need approx 80-92 MOA of travel for approx 2000yds. So, 90-(1/2 x 88)=46, 40 MOA rings and base would be my choice. Will there be any issue with 308 zero at 100yds or 338 for that matter?
Would anyone post some pics of the bolt face and breach of the .308 and .338 SRS A1conversations please?

If you can let me know what exactly you are looking for I can take care of pics for you. The bolts and barrels are the same as the Gen 2 SRS. Ofcourse the bolts were upgraded.

Sorry took so long to respond. I just wanted to see the bolt face itself like the firing pin is staring you in the face, extractor, locking lugs and the inside of the breach. In the videos I've seen its tough to see the detail, this rifle is new to me and im liking all the reviews and claims on its dependability and accuracy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe TBAC cans are 5/8 thread. There's a thread adapter that most people are are using with a TBAC and a SRS, its called the Delta-P

It's called the BA and it's the only way to fly! They are the best POI repeatable surpressors out there IMO, I have 3 of them and use them on 6 different rifles/calibers and the have yet to fail me. You get what you pay for from product to CS

Depending on which can you get, you can get different threads....I got a 338P-1 with a 3/4x24 thread which screws right onto my DTA 338lm in 3 seconds!!

+1 for TBAC 30 BA. I've just received the tax stamp for mine, and am using it on my SRS with 6x47 Lapua & 284 Win bbls. I did these bbls on Bartlein blanks in DTA contour, and threaded them 3/4-24 to avoid having to reduce the muzzle dia. excessively. I CeraKoted my bbls using H-series FDE, which is a fairly close match to the air dry, C-series FDE TBAC used on the can. Just getting started with this can, but shot some nice groups at 600yds with it this evening out of the 6x47 bbl with DTAC 115s & RL17. Very pleased with the 30 BA so far.
I had TBAC make my 30P-1 with 3/4-24 threads. Shoots great on my 6.5 Creedmoor conversion for my SRS. TBAC is very accommodating with customer requests in my experience.

That one-piece scope mount is REALLY nice. No worries about the rings being slioghtly out of perfect alignment. A one-piece mount means no torqueing of the scope from rings that are slightly off alignment, as is usual with two-piece mounts, which require ring lapping.

Where in Florida? There is nothing close to that range in tampa. Manatee is 2 hrs away and KM precision is 6 hours. I got nothing here.
We've got a 1000 yard range in central fl but that is about the same distance as Manatee
ok, i placed an order for the SRS A1. I am thinking of getting a set of Badger 6/4 screw rings for the S&B 5-25x56. Which ring height do I need? Any reason to not get these rings?
Are we able to buy the new hand guard and but pad yet?
Do you have the S&B now? If you do my advise is go with a Spuhr mount SP-4802 44.4MOA cant in 1.46". You are going to need it in order to get the full use out of your S&B. If you buy the Badgers you will waste your money because of the flat rail on the DTA.

Sweet, I was about to post questions on the DTA-SRS and found this thread. Great idea, also agree about sub-threads on any forum section. It would be great to be able to focus in by manufacturer. This, thread has already answered some of my questions. SRS will be my next rifle purchase! Would like to see the rail change ability solved other than by having to get own rail machined. Given the design it might be worth a thought about a semi auto version and even a break down version, imagine how small that would be to pack. Personally I like bolt guns, just some thoughts.

Rail change ability? Im not understanding what you mean. Forend rails? The new SRSA1 is modular and you can put the rails wherever you want or not at all. Not sure if that addresses your question, good. If not, let me know.
Breakdown version? Believe it or not, I just talked to the owner about that very idea, well, more of a folder idea, but me not being an engineer, I sometimes come up with the ideas and let them see if they are feasible.
I'm with you, I prefer bolt guns and personally don't train on semi auto's except for CQB type scenarios, I keep the bolt guns for precision work.

Think the idea of a semi auto version might be appreciated by the military, and a whole bunch of others even me.
Have been reading the thread tend to agree that an adjustable butt stock (3-way) with dampening for larger calibers would be good as would a check rest I know your top rail is already basically the same height as the stock, but folks have different shape and size heads. When I shoot with my 17 year old he always needs a lift for his cheek whereas me, the fat guy, does not. Of course all this has to be done without adding weight - so there is a challenge. I think the system is excellent, problem is as ideas come up weight tends to build. This might not affect us not humping the stuff as our job but in the bush or pit etc hiking up a mountain it really does. So keep it small, keep it light, keep it flexible , keep it simple and one rifle capable of as many roles as possible - sea, air, land - desert, arctic, mountain, jungle, hunting, target, HOG, covert, very covert etc etc. I think the system has masses of additional potential. Was the SRS submitted for the most recent round of PSR trials? I know Remington won, but its hard for me to imagine a better PSR type platform than the SRS. It would be interesting to read how it stacked up against the other entries.
The srs was not submitted in the latest round of PSR because we missed an entry deadline. It was a huge letdown for both us and Crane.

I have been either UN able to afford the set or just using my Chassis for making Butt/Cheek pads for other SRS Guys! I finally have both at the moment and hoped a few of you could steer me to a barrel manufacture and what's best 308 or 6.5 maybe 300 Black out or 300Win Mag largest! Do I kneed to purchase Mag and bolt from DTA?

Only difference between the Covert Chassis and SRS Chassis is the handguard?
