BUYER BEWARE! I was shocked to discover after having purchased Berger's 1st Edition Reloading Manual that it doesn't include ANY data on their .338 bullets! WTF!!! They stopped the presses at .30 cal bullets and released it,... can you believe that? They made all kinds of room for .17's, 20's and 25's, but nothing for their .338's like the 250gr and 300gr Hybrids,... it's a joke! BUYER BEWARE!

I too, feel your pain! I got it for the 338 info I thought I was paying for, but got ZERO. It is one big mistery. J

here ya go

damn I dont know how to make those bigger. thats 250 and 300 grain bullet load data. If someone can copy those pics and blow them up try it!

I tried making them bigger, but text is illegible. I was pretty bummed too when Berger excluded that information.

I went on to Berger's website and aired my frustrations and was sent the following very nice reply:

Hello Ryan,

Thank you for your feedback. I certainly understand your frustration, and I ensure you that the lack of information on the 338 was not an oversight but merely due to the fact that we had finished the writing part of the manual before we had released the 338s. Our manual took quite some time to write, then once it was finished being written we went through months of revising, editing, and making sure the data that we were publishing was tested by several well known shooters and safe. Printing the manual itself even takes 3 months per run. In between the time that we had finished writing the manual and when we began selling it we had released our 338s, and this is why they are not in the manual.

We will be making the information for the 338s freely available to all shooters to download off of our website, but we are still doing final testing on the information.

For now, to help you out, I have attached the current data that we are testing for the 338s in .zip format. We will eventually have more cartridges and reloading data, and will hopefully be putting this onto our website soon. Keep in mind this is just tentative data and may end up changing after more testing in different rifle/cartridge combinations.

If there are any specific loads or cartridges you were looking for that are not included in this information, you can request additional reloading information from our Technical Advisor, Darrell, at
[email protected]. He answers emails in order received and right now he is looking at a 2-4 week response time due to an unusually large backlog.

AS WITH ALL RELOADING, APPROACH THE MAXIMUM LOADS WITH CAUTION, AS ALL RIFLES AND RELOADING TECHNIQUES WILL BE DIFFERENT. IF YOU CHANGE ANY OF YOUR COMPONETS: THIS INCLUDES DIFFERENT POWDER LOT NUMBERS; YOU MUST REFIGURE YOUR LOADS BY STARTING WITH THE MINIMUM LOAD.

Have a great day!

Thank you,

The info was as previously posted. I thought it was pretty classy response.

I waited like 5 months for an autographed one. I got it and flipped to 30 cal....then it ended. Many tears were shed.

Those max velocities seem low. 2750 is easily obtained with a 300gn pill.

I know, that's what I thought too. But that is the data Berger provided to me upon request via email. That being said, my 300gr Berger sits on top of 92gr of H1000 with neglegable pressure signs... This puts me in the 2750ish area.
