When it quits foaming dump it out and install fresh, 2-3 times in about 30 minutes and you are done. Make sure you fill the whole can. I plug the exit with a junk ear plug, place a coffee stir stick threw the blast baffle to vent and fill it up.
I find I get more junk out from copper bullets than lead, and I shoot more lead than jacketed.
Make sure you dispose of it properly, highly toxic there after.

I have a SF 5.56 can that mainly gets abused on a 5.56 10" sbr, carbon builds up loke crazy where the flash hider sits in the can, i just wantted to know how long to leave it sit in the dip for it to remove some thick carbon build up in that area.

I use a jar that bacon bits or olives came in. It's just barely longer and barely larger diameter than my .22 suppressors. Put the suppressor in, fill it and let it sit overnite or even thru the next day. Lead mostly dissolves and the rest comes off real easy. DO NOT put anything aluminum in the 'dip'
i use it on the baffles from my AAC element and it works great. about an hour and then wipe the gunk off with a paper towel. good as new.
Does the solution become netrual after time? Would it hurt a steel or titanium can to sit in for a few days? Or does the mixture need to be changed every 24 hours or so to stay acidic?
It doesn't nuetralize it just gets saturated and slows down incredibly. It is still acidic and toxic.
It does not hurt stainless steel. Titanium is at risk due to the aluminum content in the Ti. We have tested this extensively and have seen a little damage but nowhere near the damage to plain steel or aluminum.
Now I need to find out exactly what materials my SF cans are made of...
Just make sure you have a HAZMAT facility that will take the toxic materials when you are done with it and that you get rid of 100% of the residue from inside, nothing worse than getting blowback of hazmat waste in your face or even all over your bolt.

The compound resulting from this is uber toxic and absorbs transdermally. It is functionally liquid lead poisoning which is very hard to treat and can seriously harm children.
Please don't pour it down the sink or in the yard. A quart of this could easily contaminate 100,000 gallons of water to the point of being virtually impossible to treat with conventional filtration.
Yeah continuos until its crystal clear. Gonna take awhile, there isn't any real need to be cleaning a centerfire rifle can though.
