My appologies right off if this question is posted in the wrong forum, I could not find a forum specific to ammo.
I am looking for suggestions on some good 308 match ammo in 168 and 175 grain. I have heard good things about Black Hills, but like many other manufacturers I cannot find anyone that has it in stock (I think due to the recent hyped hysteria about "guns" in the media). Is there a good place to buy ammo that would have stock of recommended brands?

Black Hills, Federal Gold Medal Match, Copper Creek Cartridge Company, Southwest Ammunition, etc. are all good options. But good luck finding anything in stock as the major ammo companies are back-ordered for a long time and the smaller companies (Copper Creek, SW Ammo, etc.) are having a tough time getting reloading components.
 
I ordered 400 rounds of Lapua .308 167gr back in December from EuroOptic and I am still waiting for the order to be filled. While there are many manufactures of quality ammo, finding it in stock is the issue.

You might give Ammo Brothers a call. They are located a little ways from you but they may have some. I walked in and found cases of Barrett.416 and 6.8 in stock. May take a bit of a drive but you might give them a call and see what they have.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I found some Federal Gold Medal Match and some Black Hills on GunBroker.com. You are right, everyone else is out of stock. I have som Cor Bon on order, but who knows when that will ship. Anyway, I have a good selection to try on my rifles to see which brand they "like".

Hey guys, I did find some Black Hills 308 Win 175gr BTHP MATCH at Triad Tactical. It was shipped and should be delivered tomorrow.

Typical places dont have any available, however look on gunbroker, but be prepared to pay significantly.
 
1 they load by hand 2 they are a member of the hide 3 I have run there ammo threw a cocentricity gauge with never more than .003 runout.4 A lot of people on here use them in comp and win with them . I could go on but just ask around here about them
 
I have some 200 rds of Federal Gold match 168gr that I don`t want to touch at least until things go back to normal in availability and prices , so I just found and ordered 10 boxes (200rds) of Prvi Partisan 145gr at $16.95 . Not too bad , since this is the first time I can find something at all , good or bad , in .308 anywhere . I `ll use it for plinking paper at 100 and 200 meters so it will be ok .
I went with the Prvi Partisan but there was also some MAGTECH 147gr from Brasil ... I read some bad reports from it so I chose the Partisan . Anybody have shot it ? is it as good or better than Partisan for plinking ?

I can`t believe it ... I ordered that Prvi Partisan at around midday on the 30th , a couple of days ago ... that same night I went to the site to check , thinking on perhaps ordering some more and there was none left ... incredible !!
 
I like the Gold Metal Match. With Sierra Matchkings. My gun also shoots the Hornady match in 168 real well. A lot of guns like the AMax but mine likes the SMK better. Good Luck. I just started reloading. When I get my load developed I will have 6-8 boxes of GMM to sale.

Joe, just don't get real excited and expect a delivery any day now. You will likely have to wait 8-10 weeks...or more. It's worth the wait in my opinion, but I thought it fair to let you know that you are in for a wait.

Lash--I ordered 168 and it has already shipped. The wait must be for the 175. If these shoot well in my gun, I'm ordering a 1000 rounds ASAP.

I don't shoot farther than 500 meters, so the 168 are fine for me.

There is a local to me gun store that carries 168 grain FGMM ammo. I think its around 40 bucks a box. Ill check later today. If you really need it,I can pick it up and mail it to you if you would like.

Received my Southwest Ammunition order today, will shoot 10 rounds on Sunday, order more on Monday if results are good. I also got some Remington Premier Match 168 (from another suppler) that has shot well in this rifle previously. Will be fun comparing the reloads with the FGMM and Rem Prem.

Please let us know how it does. I have no experience with the company but if they are a quality round I'd go with them. I'm in dire need of match quality ammo right now so I'm VERY interested in seeing your results, especially with Gold Medal and Black Hills so hard to come by.

Terminal206--Just got back from the range. I shot 200 yards with the Southwest Ammunition 168 reloads, Federal Gold Medal Match 168, and Remington Premier Match 168. I cleaned the carbon out on Saturday so didn't know quite what to expect, so I shot 5 rounds of each at 200 yards first before shooting at 300. At 200, all three grouped less than 2" with the Rem hitting .2 mil left of the Fed GMM. The Southwest Ammunition 168 shot 0.2 mil above the Fed GMM but grouped well. Very happy so far.

Next was at 300 yards, calm winds 50F. The Fed and Rem rounds grouped well but with slightly different POI, just like at 200, then I tried the Southwest Ammo, shot 5 rounds and sure enough, a little high, so I dialed in a 0.2 mil correction and shot this 4 round group...

Yes, less than an inch at 300 yards is a fluke (for me), but it is my kind of fluke. I shot another group after this one and it was the more usual 2" group. But, 1"-2" groups at 300 yards with someone else's reloads? I'll take it. Today at least, the Southwest Ammunition reloads were as good as the Federal GMM and Remington Premier match ammo. I'm happy. I'm ordering more. I'm very happy. If the next 100 rounds shoot as well as these first ones, I have found a good source of ammo.

Just ordered 200 more rounds of 168 gr .308 from Southwest Ammunition. I bet I have it by Thursday.

Terminal 206--Maybe this shot will help you decide whether to try the Southwest Ammunition ammo or not. I was in a hurry to get through the 200 yard rounds so I wasn't as careful here as I was at 300, but you can see all three ammo types on one target, knowing that I treated each equally, that is, I was in a hurry for all three, LOL.

If I slow down and do everything right, I can usually shoot well under 2" at 200 yards. Other than the zero, all three of these brands shoot well in my rifle.

Well, maybe at 300 I shot OK. At 200, I've done much better, so I almost didn't post the photo, but I decided that if you saw a side by side with known good box ammo it might be helpful. Just don't tell anyone I normally shoot 1 moa at 200 yards but 0.5 at 300, LOL.

I shot some more of the Southwestern Ammunition 308 168 ammo today, this time at 530 yards in very gusty conditions. This was at my first F-Class practice session. Good results, 3" vertical with 4-1/2" horizontal with me not correcting properly for the wind.

The 10 ring is 4". So far, very good experience with the few rounds I've fired so far.

Ive never done the reloading service but it says the current price is $.74. I believe you just send in your brass and tell them how you want it. Theyre great guys just pretty busy right now.
 
I just received my second order from Southwest Ammunition. Took a whole week this time. But it is good stuff. Less than 3" vertical at 500 yards for 10 rounds last weekend. I'm sticking with them for a while.

Yes, the Run and Gun Mod 1 168. Zach says it is a mixture of brass but it seems to shoot consistently anyway. I have another post where I was able to compare Southwest Ammunition 168 to Fed GMMK and Rem Premier Match 168 last weekend. I shot the SWA rounds first and didn't group them as well as normal, but had a 2" 4 shot group with the Remington, which I haven't been shooting since going to the SWA. I'm afraid the post made it look like the SWA didn't shoot as well as the Remington, but that is not usually the case, just this time with those 5 rounds. I think I have bought 500 rounds of the Mod 1 168 ammo so far and couldn't be happier.

I am fortunate in that my particular rifle shoots all three brands well. But, for the price and availability, I will stick with the Southwest Ammunition version. The casing variation is nothing compared to the shooter execution variability, I'm afraid.
