Friend has an unissued Enfield Jungle carbine that he has offered to me before he posts it for sale. I don't need these temptations in my life!!!!

I hear ya man. I just dropped a good amount on my winny m1917 and the matching bayonet. I just couldnt pass a good deal up

M1917 are excellent rifles, lots of history and real shooters. Almost wish these old milsurps could talk, so much history there and I often wonder about the men who carried them.

I like Enfields. I have a N0.3 Mk 1 Lithgow, a No.4 Savage, and a genuine No.5 Fazakerley The carbine is a very handy rifle but rather unpleasant to put a lot of rounds through in a shooting session. Be aware that there are probably more fake jungle carbines out there than real ones and an unissued one would be extremely rare. A real one will have barrel flutes underneath the handguards, lighting cuts on the receiver, and will be electro-penciled "N05MK1" and show either of the marks for the only two No.5 manufacturers "(ROF)F" (Fazakerley) or "M47C" (BSA). It should NOT be stamped "No.4". Thousands of No.4s were shortened to carbine length by both companies and individuals, if "Golden State Arms" or "Santa Fe" is rollmarked on it it's a fake.

Thanks for the info USMC Mustang. Im looking into these pretty seriously and im learning how to sort the junkers from the real ones.

They're a really neat gun and there is plenty of information on the web about how to spot a fake. I stumbled across mine after I overheard a coworker say he had an Enfield he wanted to sell. Mine is all original and in excellent shape except it has a No.4 bolt, a No. 5 bolt will have more material removed from the bolt knob. No. 4 bolts have very little or none at all. Keep looking and don't settle for junk, there are some nice specimens out there and Enfields haven't been priced out of reach for most collectors yet.

those things are pure junk, I mean seriously who even has a jungle to go shoot it in? Id have him list it here, oh and link it to me when he does

USMC ... thanks for the info! Looking at a photo fo the receiver and I can see an electro-penciled "N05 MK1 (F)". Will do more research as you suggest.

On with owner ... has the lightening cuts under the handguard, correct large hole in bolt, step under the ladder sight, peephole site, correct stock. Looks to be the real deal and is in unissued/unfired condition boys.

It certainly sounds to me like you are talking yourself into it. "Resistance is futile..." :D

I hate these threads!!

WTF did you have to mention No5's for!! I'd managed to forget about them for a while!

Now you've just got me looking for more rifles!! :D :D

Seriously, if it's original and in good, shootable condition....grab it! You'll love it!

Sounds like you have a good one there, I'd snatch that thing up!

Here's a few pictures of mine to give you some motivation to buy that thing before VJJ tracks it down.

USMC ... lol, you are no help here! Purchased! Damn it is a nice little carbine. Will post some photos as soon as I can.

Ha ha! Good for you. I don't think you'll regret it. I will enjoy the pics when you get them up.

STOP POSTING THE PICS!!! PLEASE!!

As a recovering Enfield addict...it's all getting too much to stand!! :D

Great looking rifle MJ1! With the No32 it just looks the perfect package

No5 is back on top of my "must have" list now

And just when I thought I might have been able to conquer this addiction, another pic thread like this comes along and the sirens start calling to me...

Rainier42, Look at it like this- If you don't jump on it , someone else will! I use my No 5 for feral hogs here in Texas, 10rds,smooth as silk action and a awesome trigger. Oh and they're not making any more of them! Get it the bills can wait!

BASRABOY look for the #5T next time your at Bisley.

Two year old photo at a private range of my late friend shooting my L42..
