Hey guys and gals, I have been thinking about coming up with a 22 trainer package that is similar to my 700P Package and would like to get some input. My thoughts are to do use the CZ455 as the base rifle and customize it from there. Package would include adjusting the trigger, threading the barrel and re-crowning it, bedding the action and whatever else I can come up with. The question becomes should I use the Boyd Tacticool or the Manners T4.

So here is a poll for you to cast your vote. Also add whatever else you think I should add to the package.

CZ 455 Precision Trainer, Single Set Trigger in 22lr.
That is already a Manners stock configured for the 455.
Then order a Lilja 17 hm2 0.900 diameter straight barrel
Bed the receiver and rear 8 inches of the barrel.
With the cost of mid-grade 22lr ammo equalling that of 17 hm2
why waste time on a low level of accuracy when
a precision round is available for the same cost.
Save the 22lr for plinking, use the 17 hm2 for the real work.

I would put the CZ in a stock similar to your R700 if you want a "true" trainer that mimics the feel of the big brother. So if your R700 is like the 700P referenced, neither the Manners T4 or Boyd's Tacticool will feel the same. I have an extremely similar situation where I have a 700P and an AWC Ultra II based on a CZ452. I bought a Manners T4 for the CZ and it is a completely different feel compared the HS Precision stock on my 700P.

All that aside, if you're going to choose between a Boyd's and a Manners, get the Manners!

What stock are you running on your 700? The CZ 455 tactical trainer might be a good start. My rifle is in an aics 2.0 chasis and I am finding it difficult to come up with a trainer that will mimic my stick.

Then you should consider the 455 varmint tactical as it also uses a manners stock. I even read on CZ website that you could order the rifle with a filled stock to match the weight of your full size rifle

for a more top shelf & gucci build, the manners. perhaps offer both as an option, with a price difference between the two. bedded.

definately upgraded bottom metal / trigger guard
Lilja barrel, threaded, 18 or 20".
oversized knob, teardrop badger style
20 or 25 moa picatinny base
rings - a 6 screw each variety, just because. QDs a plus.
timney trigger or rifle basix - offer both as an option, adjusted to preference poundage
METAL magazine well & extended release
striker spring upgrade
NV accessory rail, side rail for a light
us optic folding ACD or horus combo ACD cosine ind?
an extra magazine
polish bolt & receiver mating surfaces.
provide a torque spec list for everything
ambi QD sling attachments
anschutz style T rail for handstops, bipod positioning.

dura or cera coat the whole thing in tan, black, or od green

Because, suppressing .17 SUCKS.

Thanks, no suppressors without a serious wait here in Florida.
So I had zero knowledge of suppressors. Now at least I've got a start.

17 is definitely more accurate when reaching out there. The pleasing suppression of the 22LR has already been mentioned, but add to that some subsonics and you will have a ton of short range fun. As far as I know you can't do that with the 17. Which means, you need both.

I love rimfires.... Two ways I see it... Military type trainer Similiar to the old

-Kimber 82G
-H&R 12
-Mossberg44
-WIN 52

Or the more Tacticool varmint type modern RF
-savage M93 varmint
-cz tacticool/manners

Some may want screaming 17's others may want the ballistics challenge of the 22lr out to 200+yds or a 16.5 in suppressor ready toy...

Lotsa kewl , but hard to improve on a CZ varmint besides a trigger/bed job.... Even my kids lil scout astounds at 25-50 yds considering....
