For a vortex viper pst 6-24x50 ffp? I am ready to place my order and know we have some great sponsors. I can wait if I need to do a back order from a preferred vendor.

In also saw someone post, but can't find it now, that they got better hide pricing from a sponsor on I think the same scope.

Also, if someone can suggest rings. This scope will initially go on a remy 700 varmint sps and possibly be moved to my inbound gap-10, both chambered in .308.

Thanks in advance!

Sport optics beat other's prices when I got my nightforce. Chris or Jay will treat you right. I think they have that model in stock as well.

Chris with Sport Optics got it done for me. Had to backorder but saved me $167 over buying from a local sportsmans.

Just received my scope from Chris at sport optics. Great guys, good discount and shipped it the same day. IMO unheard of service.

I've read nothing but good things on this site about Scott at Liberty Optics. I'm interested to hear if anyone else has an opinion as I too am in the market for a scope.

Call and talk to him. Ask him for his best price. He's in Montana so keep that in mind when you're calling him.

SWFA-lowest prices around, their normal price beats the "open box" discounts etc. from others.

Just keep in mind that some Vortex Vipers are backordered. (I've been waiting over a month for Vortex to catch up to orders.)
Make sure that wherever you get it from, it is IN stock!

+1 to Chris at SportOptics. Good price on a Razor, got it the next day. I would buy another from them without hesitation.

Yeah I had to backorder the scope but it will all work out in the end I guess.

Any suggestions for rings on the stock Remington?

Liberty Optics. Scott has gone out of his way to get me a 6-24 PST FFP MOA scope, let alone a good price on it.
Also like the attitude and friendliness he has when you call him up or he calls you.

I mounted my 6-24x50 FFP Viper PST with Leupy STD bases and Leupy MEDIUM STD 30 mm rings. You get just enough clearance with a "Varmint" profile bull barrel to get the scope covers on and a nice low set-up for useful cheek weld. The advantage of the STD bases/rings is that you can get the scope nicely sighted in for windage using the set screws on the bases, allowing you to keep the scope's windage set at mechanical zero (takes a little effort, a few more rounds). The downside is that this set-up is 0 MOA so to get out to 1,000 yards you'll need to get a 20 MOA base and rings (for that, I'm going to go with Seekins Precision rail and rings). The Leupy STD 0 MOA set-up should be good to roughly 800 yards.

I have Leupy bases/rings on all my hunting rifles save for my Rugers and have had great results. Lapping the rings does help. Also, I use the Wheeler scope mounting kit so I can get line-up with the front- and rear-rings and I use a Redfield (BassPro store brand) bore sighter kit. I'm always on paper at 50 yards and can usually get sighted in with 12-15 shots (fiddling the STD base set screws is a little less precise than cranking the windage knob but lets you work off mechanical zero on windage.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I did check with some of our sponsored sites, but found two of them back-ordered. I added some reloading stuff to my order and got it from a site I have used for many years. I certainly always try our sponsors first.

Good luck,

FH

Thanks for the good words, fellas. The issue with these scopes has always been supply,. I've never been able to truly stock them, demand has always been high. At one point about 2 years ago, we had 147 names on our backorder list. Things are not near that bad now, but I could certainly use a dozen or so 6-24x50 FFP right this minute. Vortex promises better times ahead, can't wait.
