I posted this question in the gunsmith section as well. Not everyone goes to all the threads.

will a .750" muzzle dia enough shoulder for a 5/8x24 direct thread suppressor? 338 cal?

We're just worried that there isn't going to be enough shoulder for a good purchase on the suppressor. Would jumping up to .850" be a better idea?

Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure that for a 308 .75 diameter and .6 of thread length is normal, but I don't know about the 338.

5/8 = 0.625
.750-.625= .125
.125/2= .0625 shoulder
Doesn't leave a lot of shoulder for alignment.

Vs

.850-.625=.225
.225/2= .1125 shoulder

I think I'm doing the right math?

xdeano This is 5/8-24 thread on a .750 barrel and a TBAC 30P-1. There isn't much of a shoulder but it works and is repeatable.
