I have recently tried to talk myself out of buying a 50 BMG bolt action rifle... into something worse...

I cannot decide what would be better between the following-

408 cheytac
375 cheytac
416 barrett

Which is better:
Cost of cartridges and any special needs- I will reload for this:
Range and when the bullet goes trans-sonic:
Ballistic coefficients of best rounds available:
Best rifle for the round:

They all look damn tempting to me, but Im looking to spend under 7,000 on JUST the rifle. Unfortunately, I have ZERO reloading data available in any of my books for any of the above rounds. I would like to start shooting at 2000-2500 yards.

Honestly, im trying to step up from the .338 lapua into the "next" rifle.

I'd recommend 375 cheytac or 416 barrett- these seem to have more bullet choices available. 416 might be a bit cheaper to shoot, since you can neck down 50bmg brass, where any of the cheytac caliber brass is going to be more $$$.

375 cheytac seems to have a better BC though.

I keep hearing alot about the 50, and I've shot a few on more than one occasion and don't get me wrong- they are kickass- but there is better rifles out there that can go alot further than the 50 can.... plus all the above rounds mentioned are stable at 2K.

Its one of those deals where you spend once, cry once. Like I said, I am looking into target shooting at 2K- 2500 yards.

My own ELR experience is with .338 LM and 7mm SAUM; not familiar with the "Big Boys".
I am sure there is a bunch of info on the Hide too; good luck on your quest.
Good shooting.
