I help Volunteer with a program we have on base here that provides free maintance to the Spouses of Depyoled Airman. I got a call this Morning about a gal who lost the brakes on her Van,i grabbed my trailer and drug it to the shop. Her Husband is in A Stan now and they have two kids both under 3. I get the van up and look at it both calipers Bad rotors shot. and the drivers sdie CV shaft is toast. I call my parts guys tell them what i need they ask me whats it for i tell them.
I head out get my parts and go to pay for them i get reinbursed from The 1ST Sgts Assosiation they tell me No Charge John. And say this is the least we can Do and thank them for thier Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that made my day with all the crap going on this is a Truely good deed.

Definitely a good deal for the family. Sure, they could probably afford it while he is deployed but I am glad they won't have to. If she is driving a vehicle that close to the ragged edge, they probably aren't raking in the dough on the norm.

If the husband is enlisted, E5 or under, 2 kids <3 yrs old, she likely would have chosen between some sort of basic need and those repairs, of which without you can only imagine how she would get around in S.D. in March without a vehicle. Look at it this way- when he comes home, the money she saved will likely put that family in a nice place for a few days for some well-deserved R&R. It's tough on single parents, too- two 3yr olds makes me cringe! You did well, it's good to hear of guys/orgs like the ones here. Thanks for helping!

I agree. Two kids and minimal income. She needed the help. This is how people can help each other without handouts. Makes me proud that you are one of the many (including the sgts. assoc.) that make real differences a little at a time.

God bless America!
