I finally got me a Shorty Too! It took a long time to find one of these ever since I knew about their existence. Finally was able to get my hands on one at a LGS near my house.

It's a Remington 700 Tactical AAC-SD with 16" Factory Threaded Barrel .308 with 1 in10 Twist, about as Compact and Handy as they come. So far the only modification I've done to it is the LoneWolfUSMC Coke Can "spacer" Mod in his Budget Precision Videos to completely free float the barrel in the Factory Hogue Stock (It's a POS I know). I had a AR-10 Factory Flash Hider just lay around that I threw on to protect the Threads and Crown but now it's kind of growing on me (until I figure what I really want to put on it). On top is a Vortex Viper PST FFP 4-16x50mm Mil/Mil.

I took to the Range earlier this week to sight it in and It Shot WAY Better than I Expected. Below is just a Break In Group shots 6-10 I only shot it 10 times that day since I a couple of other rifles to sight in and was running out of time.

It's a Solid Sub 3/4 MOA Rifle with the Current Factory Setup, Trigger and POS Hogue Stock. AICS 2.0 is the Next on the List and honestly I think that'll be about it for this rig. It'll be used as the Jack of All Trades gun for Hunting and Whatever the heck else I'll need it for. Here's some phone pics, Thanks for looking guys!

I've seen a ton of those locally the last two weeks.

I've got a 16.5" shorty with a 1/7.5 twist for super fat 308 bullets and subsonic stuff.

So where did you end up getting it from and what did it cost?

A place call Euless Guns and Ammos. It's roughly around $850 with Tax and Everything out the door. It wasn't the best deal but it was Hard to Find and I didn't want to take the chance if passing it up. I've been looking for about 6 Months now.

Umm...1 in 7.5 Twist? I think you're talking about the new AAC-SD in .300 Black Out. Those just came out and like you said ALL OVER THE Places. They look just like the .308 versions but shoots the small Bolt Face .300 Black Out rounds which is pretty much .308 Bullet in a .223 Casing. Remington only made .308 AAC-SD in 1 in 10 Twist Rates.

Maybe he's got a custom .308.....my guess anyway.

Nope. My build is a 7.5 twist in a 308.

The 16" aac's are 308 and I've seen probably 5 of them this week.

Hogtooth, can u add a link to the coke can spacer I have the 20in aac-sd and shot groups like yours out the box as well but anything extra to deal with the stock until I replace it would be great.

Darn, maybe I should've posted on here first asking for help finding one... I probably don't want to know how much they were. At least this one shoots decent so I don't feel bad about getting it. And sorry about the comment on the Twist Rate, I just didn't know a lot of people using that setup, but I bet It makes one heck of a quiet little package though. How heavy are the Bullets you're shooting out of that thing?

Here you go Bro, the actual instruction starts from 5:30ish but it's pretty good video as a whole. However I don't believe he had very good luck with the AAC-SD he got.

I actually just recently bought it from another member. It shoots the 155s and 175s fine supersonic. Gonna try the 240 match king subsonic.

It's a handy rifle size for sure. Nice truck gun setup in the houge stock.

I wanna stick mine in a Rock Solid folding stock though. That would be pretty trick

Yes Definitely a Folder For Mine! I want it to be as compact as possible. I originally wanted to go with the Manners TF Series of Folder Stocks. There were a couple for sell a while back but all of them got Snatched Up FAST. So my backup plan now is the AICS 2.0. I was told it'll be a bit on the heavy side but I'm willing to live with it.

I've heard nothing but good things about Rock Solid Stocks, but I never got the chance to hold one in person. I have held a AICS before and really liked the newer version of it, so that's what I'll probably be going with.

Thanks for sharing on your rifle, I'd love to see some photos and groups later!

My local Cabela's has one of these, but they want $1100 for it. The sales guy wouldnt even go check to see if the price was a mistake. Hell Remington MSRP is only $899 and cost on them is somewhere in the mid $500 range. They had a regular SPS-TAC with threaded barrel and 51t Blackout on it for $699 which would have been mine had it not been for the 12 twist barrel.

Holy Crap! That Price is Outrageous!!! Glad I didn't ran into that deal first cause chances are I'd probably paid for it, just because I've been looking for so long. It's a cool little rifle but it ain't worth that much...That's in a 5R price range and there's far better option at that price point...

when I told the guy I would pass he acted like I spit on his child and how could I pass up buying a gun that I REALLY wanted. Easy, the money I am saving by going to my normal dealer for non rape prices will almost pay for my McRee chassis.

I did console myself and buy a Gen4 FDE G19 though. I cringed at paying retail for the gun, but it was in stock and I have been kind of wanting one for a while.

Cabelas FT worth had a couple in the 700$ range. I hate to say it but cheaper than dirt had em for about the same.

Of course cabelas also had one for 2800$ but it had a NF NxS in top.

Yea I've been too lazy to get out there. It's about an hour drive from where I am and the last couple of times out there I didn't find much of anything that I needed...But good to know though, maybe some of my friends might interested in getting one after mine did so well!

Nice rig. That flash suppressor actually looks pretty good.

Thanks! Yea, it was free came off my Armalite AR10. I put a Surefire MB762 on the Armalite and ended up with this extra flash hider. It's actually really been growing on me with this rifle. The Armalite units are slightly longer than the say DPMS AR308 flash hiders which in this case worked out for the better and looks better too. Hey it's one less thing for me to throw away or buy, The 20MOA base on the rifle was also an old extra part I had laying around from way back with my very first Bolt Gun Build. So all in all it's pretty much a Budget Gun.

I shoot 168s and had sub-MOA out of the box. I put a McMillan M40 stock on it and groups tightened up even more. That fifth shot was all me...I should've quit at four.

Why are you measuring center to center then subtracting .308 for your group size? Aren't you suppose to measure outside to outside if you are subtracting your bullet diameter?

I was wondering when someone was going to bring that up. Indeed, when you measure center to center, thats your group size, .706", but you have 10 shots there, very nice group nonetheless. Nice rig, barrel too short for me. Here's my 308. 26" tube. :)

Yea, I had a Brain Fart and realized that After I did it. I was just a little too excited about the rifle. That's why to compensate I left the Gauge There and in the Original Post I stated "Solid 3/4 MOA rifle and not being a ignorant idiot and go and say it's solid "1/2 MOA" gun...Sorry about that guys...

Nice Rifle! Yea, I got a 24" in .260 Rem and 26" in .300 WM so I have my share of Long Barrels. But in all honesty I don't think longer barrel are necessarily "Better" on a .308. I've seen some 20"/18"/16" .308s Perform Identically at Long Distance and might be even better sometimes compare to the Full Length Barrels. I think it's more to do with the Barrel Quality "Maker" and Diameter "Stiffness". Shorter is often stiffer and less Barrel Whip and more Solid.

In this case this rifle shoots .5moa or less out to 300 yds, 4.7" 600yds. Ive seen those short barreled 308s shoot very well on youtube.
