Hi all! I just finished my first quasi custom build for some precision shooting. I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. I usually shoot USPSA, but really wanted to get back to rifles. I have been hunting pretty much everything in PA my whole life. I put together a blueprinted / trued 700 LA originally in a 30.06. A friend had a HS precision stock already bedded for a Schneider MTU barrel. Had the Schneider contract barrel chambered in .308 and cut to 24". Badger base and rings topped with a nightforce 5.5-22( on the way). SOO here I am ready for the crappy weather to break so I can actually shoot the thing!! I am new to precision shooting, and this site has been a great help for research without sifting through the google BS. Thanks!! It is amazing to know that the guys on this site are so willing to answer the same new guy questions a hundred times without making guys like me feel stupid. Great environment to learn from other peoples wins and mistakes.

Welcome to the Hide. Not sure how far West in PA you are but we have two great long distance ranges over here in Ohio. Rayners ( http://www.raynersrange.com/ ) where we shoot steel plates from 234 yards to 1000 yards on the 4th weekend of each month. There is also Thunder Valley Precision "TVP" ( http://thundervalleyprecision.com/ ). They have shoots of some type nearly every weekend and have targets to a mile and on some matches beyond that.

We venture out to Rayners quite often thru the month for tweaking and practice and you'd be welcome to join in.

The sound of distant steel ringing a few seconds after the shot is addicting.

Good Luck with the new good and YAY for good weather coming soon.

Hello and welcome from Indiana! Have spent much time in the western part of Pennsylvania, being as though my wife is from around the New Castle area. Welcome to the site!

I have a place we shoot out to about a mile, about 30 min from indiana. Maybe in the spring a few of us can get together and burn up some overpriced ammo.

Sounds great ollie! I live in prospect pa. About 30 min north of pittsburgh.

not far from prospect here, fenelton to be exact just outside of butler, i have a few spots close if anyone is interested, let me know. we are always looking for new people to shoot with, trade info, help or learn something from.

I am local as well. Hanging out in Saxonburg with a 300RUM and a Grendel gasser getting ready ( loaded ) for some LR fun. Where do you shoot? I am zeroing at the Butler range. That is a good range for anything out to 200yds.

stumbled across your post Jr (meathunter)...kind of awesome to see so many people around us! we need to get you loaded up (and my 7mm stw & 300 wsm sold so I can get my rig together) and do a western pa shoot/bbq weekender!

anyone have any land to host something? i could get ahold of some steel targets pretty easy
