Tried searching through the mag comparison sticky, but apologies if I missed this in that thread...

So the Ruger Gunsite Scout uses AI mags. It would make sense then that I could use Gunsite mags in my Rem 700 .308 DBM... but I wanted to see if anyone had actually tested this out to make sure there were no feed/fit issues?

the metal ones are made by accurate mag and work just fine. the plastic ones took a little modification for my 700 action and american precision bottom metal. had to file them so the fit tighter against the receiver. from what i remember the modified plastic mags worked with a buddys stiller action as well. I'll upload pics if I can find them.

I have a Ruger Scout and several AI rifles, I use the mags interchangeably. No worries to date. The five rounder that come with the Scout is a handy piece of kit for the AIAE that I have in 6.5 Creedmoor, so much so that I thought about rechambering the Scout.

I thought better of it, and left a perfectly good rifle, alone. The Scout is what it is, and I shouldn't turn it into what it is not.

Thanks very much guys! Just upgraded a Rem 700 .223 to a .308 and I swear the costliest part might be replacing all those .223 AI mags I had accrued over the years (I need to make up for this in the "for sale" forum!). The Scout 308 mags are in stock various places and polymer versions are 40-50% cheaper than other AI mags, so this is exactly the feedback I needed to give at least one or two a try.
